Best Mediterranean Food Ever

I love Mediterranean food. They tend to have great vegan options. Zaitun is the best I've ever had. It's stunning. The vegan options are substantial, and a good many things that are vegetarian can be veganized easily.

Personally, I adore the Addas soup -- it is absolutely revolutionary. The falafel are well seasoned and not dry.

Delicious Palestinian Food

Everything was delicious! The futur medley is a great appetizer to share and comes with so many different things to try which are all great. The falafel wraps are awesome as well.

Pros: so many vegan options!

Super flavorful and great service!

What a find in the middle of Beacon, on our day trip from the city! I was worried we wouldn’t find vegan options in that area but Zaitun came through with amazing (natural) vegan fare. Eggplant like I’ve never had before, delicious humus, flavorful falafel, hearty foule (beans), and best of all the seared portobello mushrooms as shawarma!! All with the best service I’ve experienced in a long time! I’ll be back to Beacon just for this restaurant.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Great service , Amazing flavors

Best Middle Eastern restaurant I've ever experienced!

What a surprise to find a world-class hole-in-the-wall in little Beacon! Ziatün is an unpretentious treasure of truly great food, excellent service, and intimate atmosphere. Lots of vegan options in every category (at least 27 vegan choices on the current menu), and those I tasted were imaginative, beautifully prepared, and delicious. The vegan shawarma with pan-seared sliced portobellos and traditional spices was the best shawarma I've ever had, including those with meat. I had it on hummus but you can choose baba ganoush or rice and greens. The fresh warm pita dipped in olive oil and za’atar seasoning was out of this world. The za’atar fries were dreamy, too. All seven of my party including the omnivores were talking about this meal for days. A small but well-chosen beer selection, a variety of wines, and Middle Eastern non-alcoholic beverages were a good accompaniment to a memorable meal.

Pros: World-class vegan food, Unpretentious cozy atmosphere indoors or outdoors, Attentive, good-humored service

Delicious Dinner

Ziatun was on our list of restaurants to try! Very happy we did. Cozy atmosphere with limited seating, but the staff were very kind and friendly. We started out with a couple appetizers at the communal bar seating before a table opened up for us to continue our dinner date. We shared a very pleasant evening together and would highly recommend this place.

Pros: Plenty of vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Small, limited seating

Could've fouled (fooled) me 😆

I live in Beacon and this is my favorite restaurant in town. Nothing beats the foule. It's a must when visiting Beacon. Skip the roadhouse and go there instead.

Pros: Best food in town , Tons of vegetarian and vegan options , Amazing atmosphere

Cons: Gets busy quickly , Limited seating

Yummy mediterranean food for vegans

This is not a 100% vegan restaurant, but it feels close, because they go out of their way to make the default option for their meals vegan — and make the carnist version an add-on; or to have the front part of their menu exclusively vegan. This felt like a mostly vegan restaurant with some carnist options rather than the other way around. What a nice inversion! I would love to give them 5-stars just for that.

The food is high-quality mediterranean. One place you see this is the fresh Za'tar and the home-made pickles in the Futur Medley (those pickles live in a different universe than those of even a good chain like Mamoun's). The vegan shawarma was very good, but frankly I would have ordered three servings of the Mujadarra if I had known it would be quite this scrumptious.

The Mujadarra is a dish of lentils and rice, that is topped with yummy fried onions. I would get this again and again and again.

They also had good vegan deserts (a vegan brownie and a baklava which, without honey, is vegan).

We originally came to Beacon for a vegan restaurant that ended up just not following their hours, and we were super happy to find this gem.

Pros: Vegan-bold omnivore place, lots of (good) choice, Great tasting food, sizable portions, Mujadarra

Wonderful service, delicious food

We had the falafel burger. It was really flavorful and light. The za’atar fries were also a win. Atmosphere was great, and the people there were very nice. Definitely check it out.

Delicious Vegan Options

Their delicious food has brought me back time and time again. Some good options are the hummus (yum), falafel burger & French Fries. If you’re not feeling a burger type then go for a rice bowl with falafel. Be sure to finish your meal with the vegan brownie! My only complaint is they haven’t the brownies the last 2 times I’ve gone as they sell out fast. They need to make more!

Cozy atmosphere

We dined in at Ziatun for a date night, and the atmosphere was so inviting. Tables are very close together, and the space is very small, but it contributes to the fun. There were lots of vegan options to choose from, and we ended up ordering an appetizer that was a lot bigger than we expected! It was a platter with pita, dipping sauces, veggies. The pita tasted store bought and was nothing to rave about, but the babaganoush was absolutely incredible.
We ordered the portobello shawarma, and it was very good, although a little expensive.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Fun, cozy atmosphere

Cons: Expensive , Crowded. Can feel over stimulating

Cozy Restaurant with decent food

Our meal at Ziatun was good but not mind blowing. We ordered a few different mezze/appetizers to share, for the price I thought the portions were a bit on the small side. The babaghanouj was great, and the pita bread was good. I personally wasn’t fond of the shashuka, which was too bland for me, I was a little shocked at the price for what they gave. A cute little place but I’m not sure I would go out of my way to eat here again.

Fabulous!

I dunno if other reviewers went there on a bad day or what, because the food is absolutely DELICIOUS. I’ve never had falafel that was quite so flavorful and not overly oily. The lentil soup is out of this world - and sure, is a bit salty, but what soup isn’t? The babaganoush is smoky and perfect. The hummus is the creamiest I’ve ever been served anywhere. The servers are lovely. I would absolutely go back here again and again. I want to try the Mujaddara next time we are in town. Try the vegan semolina cookies. So good!

Pros: Most of the menu is vegan. , Vegan dessert is a thing there!, Waitstaff is kind and knowledgeable.

Cons: Not a lot of seating/wait can be long.

Way too salty, low quality

I ordered:
Hummus - It was way to salty and for 6.95 the portion was very small. The pita that comes with it is tasteless, worse then you might get at a grocery store.
Zatar Fries - The saltiest fries ever and very little zatar flavor. Huge portion.
Falafel - This was good.
Way too unhealthy for me.

A gem!

Fresh and flavorful Middle Eastern fare right on Main Street. A great selection of vegan options that don’t feel like an afterthought. The sampler is a must — my husband and I cleaned out every dish. Service was slow when we went, no one asked us if we wanted to get seated when we walked in, so we had to go up to the cashier and ask. She didn’t really acknowledge us for several minutes which was strange. Everything else was wonderful once we finally were seated.

Pros: Almost all apps/sides are vegan!, Nice atmosphere.

Cons: Seating is strange, limits space., Service was a bit slow.

Delicious and Adorable

There are a whole bunch of vegan options and everything looked excellent. We settled on the lentil soup (best we’ve had in a long time), the sampler platter, and a rice bowl. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere is great and the space is adorable. If we’re ever up this way again, we will for sure stop by!

amazing

Update ! Came back with my boyfriend. Everything was amazing again. We for the sampler and a grilled vegetable dinner. The employees are just so nice. It's just a wonderful place!

What a cute little find. The inside was so warm and cozy, so cute!! My mom and I went for dinner, we had such a great time! They had a whole side of the menu dedicated to vegans! Candles on the dinner table, fresh water all night. It was really a wonderful time. Food was delicious!

Pros: lots of vegan options

Cons: no cons

Great option in a somewhat scarce area

Being that there aren't too many veg friendly spots in the area I wasn't expecting much from this place. But a solid half the menu is vegan, and it's pretty clear what is and isn't. If there are any doubts, the staff is very knowledgeable about it and really friendly.

We managed to sample a bit of almost every vegan option on the menu and it's all really good. The falafel definitely stood out, would recommend.

Pros: Half vegan (delicious) menu , Friendly, knowledgeable staff, Relatively cheap with good portion sizes

Cons: Half meat menu

Vegans dream

What a beautiful little (very little) place! Moroccan style decor, with a cozy atmosphere and a knowledgeable (and friendly) staff who instantly make you feel at home. Discovered Ziatun on Yelp, and my boyfriend and I were so glad we gave it a try.
The menu was small, but included lots of amazing vegan options...and another selection of meat Kebab and other things my boyfriend likes to eat. It was great to be able to sit down and share a large meal together. Something that rarely, and I mean RARELY ever happens at a restaurant. We ate a whole prethera of vegan noshes before out entrees came out, mine being a dish of rice and lentils with onions. They even have this great little vegan dessert, halvah! Left satisfied and full.

Pros: Vegan, Great atmosphere , Friendly staff
