Disappointed - Edit
I ate here last night for probably my 10th time between eat in and take out. I always make it VERY clear that I am vegan. The waitress last night informed us that the bread that has been served to us every other time was NOT vegan and never has been. It’s what they have served us to eat with the clearly marked vegan hummus. Then we were charged $3 for vegetables as an alternative. I emailed today and the owner responded immediately with an apology, which I appreciate, but he certainly didn’t seem to get the magnitude of this mistake that was made multiple times. Not feeling the love any more.
Read moreGreat ambiance, great service, great food, and great drinks. Love this place. Small plates to share. They definitely need to add more vegan options though as they are limited -and two of them are hummuses (hummusi?)

Small-plate concept - Edit
We tried and enjoyed these vegan small plates: mejadra, lentils, onions and rice; hummus with burnt onions and nigella seed; and green beens with citrus olive oil and almonds.
Read moreThe vegan and vegetarian items were clearly marked on the menu; choices were plentiful; portions were plentiful- three people ordered four plates, and one was not finished. Bread was included with the meal.
Setting is contemporary, but concrete floors and high, open ceilings make for a noisy setting even when partially full with patrons.
Pros: Small-plate concept , Easy sampling, group sharing , Delicious food
Cons: Loud setting, noisy acoustics , Parking around the corner is limited

Amazing - Edit
I was able to go to Zhug once before the pandemic and it was really a special meal. They had a good amount of vegan options and a couple that could be veganized. The leeks were out of this world. It was a little loud, but that’s not an issue now with takeout only. I appreciate their commitment to masks and social distancing. I’ve gotten takeout a few times and it’s always been delicious.

Cons: Dine in experience has very loud music
