A good thing - Edit
It's very hippieesque and shabby chic and secondhand, I liked it. Friendly guys there and nice atmosphere to read a book or have a chat. I only had a tea but the food looked good and it's quite cheap.

Friendly and Cosy Vibe ☺️ - Edit
Staff super friendly, and lots going on besides the cafe. Super inclusive vibe, even the clothes are not segregated by gender! Limited food choices on the day I visited (soup, pastie or salad - no cakes), but I suppose it depends on what they have to work with on the day. Pastie and a pot of tea for £6 seemed very fair, and was a lovely setting for a relaxed lunch. Hopefully next time they'll have some cakes on too! #Veganuary
Read morePros: Friendly and inclusive vibe, Affordable, ethical food, Everything is vegan!
Cons: Limited options on the day (probably varies a lot)

Thank you for your review! Sorry that we didn't have that many food options when you came in - we try to stay on top of our cooking schedule but as it's mostly volunteers who help in the kitchen we can have delays/a reduced menu if someone couldn't make it in that day to help. Hope to see you again soon😄

My fav place in Edinburgh - Edit
I'm here at least 4 times a month, and I absolutely love the concept of the zero waste hub. They got great values and all about circular economy. They rescue food, they have the swap shop and awesome events on every month. The staff and volunteers are lovely and the vegan café always have a great selection that varies a lot from week to week. This is the go-to café I usually recommend and take my friends to.

Characteristic vibe - Edit
Restaurant/hub with great idea and friendly prices. You can have daily soup, cakes, teas and coffees. For Edi the prices are very good and it is great idea that they are preparing product from saved food. It is also connected with second hand and saved food shop.

Lovely fresh food with great environmental ethos - Edit
The food was tasty and fresh. I love that it's all made from supermarket food that would have went to waste. The staff are very friendly and the shop is fab. I managed to get an All Saints jacket for £12. Total bargain!!

Amazing café, food store, second-hand treasure store, all in one place - Edit
This is a vegetarian-vegan café, but so much more than that. It's also a zero waste food rescue store, second-hand treasure store, creative space and educational hub.

This place feels like you're sitting at home with a nice bowl of soup/cup of tea - it's really cozy. They serve a daily savory dish (soup or stew) plus several choices of tea/coffee and cake.
Read moreIn addition it has a shop for used books and clothes and you also have the possibility to take away rescued food. 🤗

great space with a good porpose - Edit
I found about the shop online looking for vegan and sustainable shops.
Read moreI was very happy with all the great work they are doing at the Zero Waste hub. Besides serving nice vegan drinks they also provide with food that would otherwise go to waste and you can have it for any amount of donation.
It also has a tiny thrift shop with used goods from clothes, shoes, books etc.
It was a very nice surprise to find such a nice place that supports ethic, sustainable shopping.
Pros: great sustainable concept, nice space, Friendly staff

Cheap and delicious lunch spot and community hub - Edit
Best vegan sandwich I've ever tasted. Super tasty soup too. Perfect place to grab lunch with a £5 meal deal. Food menu is completely vegan but it says vegetarian as they still offer dairy milk for those who haven't discovered oat milk yet.
Read moreAlso much more than a cafe, they have a really interesting swapshop and food sharing project and there's a really friendly community vibe. Go check it out right away!
