The most popular veg place in Town

In all the years I've been going to Zenhouse i have never had a bad experience, they have never messed up my order or given me vegetarian instead of vegan and the staff are always lovely and food great. This has been one of my favourite veg places since before i was vegan, and it still is one of the best in Adelaide.
I'm a creature of habit so usually just go for the vegan SFC with chips, but all of their dishes are winners!

Pros: cheap food, vegan options

So delicious!

We ordered the Zenhouse sizzling noodle plate and Zenhouse claypot noodle, and a pot of Rooiboss ChaiTea.
Everything was spot on and really hit the mark. I now wish I lived in SA so I could return there regularly.
Pricing is pretty cheap considering the cost of eating out these days / inflation.
Drinks smoothie menu has dairy, all others are vegan. Food menu only had a few non vegan options.

Pros: Mostly vegan, Menu clearly labelled , Delicious tea

Cons: Not entirely vegan

Nice quiet cafe with many vegan options

Visiting from interstate and didn't realise until arriving we'd been here before. Would be happy to return again. Service was quick, food was good. We ordered a few different dishes and all were tasty.

The worst food I’ve had in ages.

Dumplings weren’t cooked through except for one, which was over cooked. Laksa was watery and bland - I wasn’t given a soup with which to eat it until I asked, and was then given a plastic spoon so dirty that I was scared to use it. Mee goreng was the single worst dish that I have ever spent my money on: think “sweet and sour sauce” fresh out of a jar from a supermarket mixed with ketchup, frozen veggies, and overcooked hokkien noodles. Only the satay skewers and Peking rolls were somewhat palatable, although the satay sauce was cold. We left after having 2-3 bites maximum of our mains. I cannot believe that this restaurant is attempting to pass off this rubbish as food.
We weren’t even given table water to drink/wash the vile taste from our tongues.

Pros: None

Cons: Everything

It was ok

The food was passable but the service was a big let down. We arrived at 5.30 and there was a only 1 person waiting for his meal, I overheard he waited for 40 minutes and he requested a refund. That should have been a sign for us to leave. In the end it was the same wait for us just for dumplings and dim sum. Luckily, we left as the place became packed- I don’t know how they would manage to serve so many people, as they can’t serve even 1 person. The staff are more interested in talking to each other (as in not cooking at all and instead having full conversations).

Pros: Big menu

Cons: Long wait time, Food is ok

Perfect!

Never had a bad dish here. BBQ buns, Satay Sticks and the Curry Not Chicken all worthy of a mention. Staff is always friendly and the wait times aren't long.

Very good meal

The entire menu is vegan other than the naan bread. Tried 5 different entrees and 2 mains. So much food. The peiking rolls and taro rolls are fantastic and super tasty. Food came out fast, and we definitely didn’t leave hungry.

Still good after all these years

I’d completely forgotten I’d been here twice before (last time seven years ago) until I actually got here and then saw I’d written a long HC review back then. It’s where I had my first durian ice cream. (Never again.) Previously we’d ordered from the lunch menu but this time we ordered the Ma Po tofu ($14.90), marked mild spicy, and the Assam not-fish ($16.90), marked spicy. The fish dish was tasty but only mildly spicy, with a familiar type of mock that I’ve seen done well and poorly; this time it was good. The tofu was also nice, but not at all spicy, which I though was a bit out of the ordinary for Ma Po tofu. The person serving us was helpful and polite but did forget our tea (and was very apologetic). It was a simple but pleasant dining experience and reasonable prices on a decent-sized menu. I’ll continue the tradition of eating here in future visits to Adelaide.

Pros: Nice food, Reasonable prices, Decent-sized menu

The food is ok, but not great.

I’ve been here a few times over the years, and the food isn’t that tasty. It’s just ok. I’ve never walked out feeling that I really enjoyed a meal here, although I’m always happy that it’s mostly vegan.

Pros: Mostly vegan

Cons: Not very tasty

Awesome variety of options

Went here with a large group during the Adelaide Fringe and had a great time. The menu is pretty big so lots to choose from. I had the Tempeh Schnitzel and got to try a lot of other bits sharing with the group. All freshly made, the food was great and the location is fantastic for doing something else in the city.
Wasn't a huge venue so booking ahead might be a good idea.

I was very tired and you saved me!

We had only been in Adelaide a few hours in stinking summer heat. Very tired and hungry. Quick search on Happy Cow and there it was, the Zenhouse!

Friendly staff, great food and nice air-conditioning. What more can you ask for? We had the Curry Not Chicken and the Tofu Claypot. Both were yum. Even in 2019 being a vegan or a veggo can be challenging eating out in some places, but Zenhouse is a great respite :)

Pros: Food - location - staff - atmosphere

Quick and satisfying meal

We loved our dinner meal here! One of this things I miss the most being vegan is yum cha and this was not to disappoint! Good variety approx 50 dishes you aren’t limited by choice. Friendly staff and extensive tea collection!

Pros: Massive selection, Entree deal 5 for $20, Quick service

Cons: No BYO

Never disappoints

We ordered almost everything from the yumcha menu. Sweet and savoury. We also ordered two tempeh salads and two satay sfc burgers. This place is so amazing. And never dissapoints. The pina colada, lime and coconut and strawberry delights are our fav ice teas. So we couldn’t leave without having those too.

Pros: Amazing vegan food and mock meats , Mix of east meets west, Traditional eastern options too

Laksa - insanely delicious

Wow, the laksa (nice chewy noodles and veggies in a spicy coconut soup) was incredibly good. One of the tastiest dishes I’ve ever had. And super comforting too. Huge portion and piping hot. The guy at the counter was helpful and very friendly. Oh my gosh it was so good and such a treat to find veg laksa.

Pros: Menu is extensive!

Good food but choose wisely

I went there with my family and everyone really enjoyed their food. I only put 4 stars because I was disappointed with the vegan 'shark fin' soup and had to order another main in the end.

Best vegan yum cha

Really enjoy Zenhouse in town - I have had several catch ups with friends and dates here, and even two birthday dinners. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Prices range from affordable to the more expensive, but it’s great that there’s a choice.

Highly recommend the steamed buns, satay sticks and the spring rolls.
