Fresh vegan Thai

My parents, husband, and I had a wonderful dinner outside at the zen bistro. The outside area is relaxing and romantic with herbs, bamboo, an outdoor bar, and a fire pit.

The menu warns that most items have fish and/or oyster sauce and notify if vegan. We notified the staff and since everything was made to order we had no problems. My mother is gluten free and many options were available gluten free.

I ate the jungle curry, which was spicy but amazing. This curry is not tempered with coconut milk do you taste the full flavor and heat. I enjoyed it very much. It was full of fresh vegetables. My husband ordered the spicy rice noodles and it was also very good but not spicy. The restaurant claims they serve their food spicier thanost Thai restaurants; I did not find that to be true and next time will order spicier. The only disappointment was the the papaya salad which was bland; I'm guessing they had dressing issues without the fish sauce. The wine menu was limited but we liked the house Cabernet.

The food portions were largely and the pricing was very reasonable. Will visit again!

Great Thai food

It's a great place with plenty of vegan options.
I had the drunken noodles and the fresh rolls. Both were amazing.
The taste is great just the quantity is not too much.
Beware that Thai hot is really hot 🥵

Crispy tofu, we like thaaaaat

Super nice our side seating, we came on Halloween and the staff was super nice , knowledgeable on what is vegan and everyone dressed up! We will be back!

Pros: Crispy tofu, Outside seating with fire place, Friendly staff

Sautéed eggplant ( remove egg, oyster sauce/ fish sauce ) eggplant was so tasty and meaty at Zen Bistro in Daytona Beach

Spicy pad Thai ( make sure to mention your vegan, remove egg and fish / or oyster sauce ) I added veggies and tofu at Zen Bistro in Daytona Beach

Needs Improvement

When Zen Bistro first opened its doors, it was amazing on many levels. Fresh food. Great atmosphere. Excellent staff. But, over the last couple of years, the service and food quality have diminished. It seems as though ever since the young African American woman who was the floor manager from day one left, and she no longer works there. They have gone downhill. 😔

Cons: Must thoroughly express your vegan to get vegan., I'm not always sure you're getting 100% vegan., Poor service.

Amazing!

I wish I could give this place 6 stars! I had fresh rolls w/ peanut sauce, house salad w/ a ginger dressing, and pad see ew w/ tofu. Omg! I love Thai food, and this quite possibly was the best I’ve ever had! Our server, Olive, went above and beyond to take great care of my husband and I! Thank you so much!!

Would give 5 stars if I could!

Best Thai food I’ve had since moving from Northern California. The cucumber salad was simple but delicious. Perfect balance of flavor and spice in the massaman curry. And that pineapple fried rice! So amazing!!!!

Waste of money

I got the red curry and it wasn't good. Not much flavor, not a lot of sauce, and weird consistency. It's more watery than coconut milk normally is. Pad thai is pretty good.

The staff is nice though..

Excellent vegan Pad-Thai!!

I called in to order a take out and the lady on the phone was sweet and very happy to accommodate my vegan requests. I ordered fresh rolls and fried tofu vegan Pad Thai. The flavors are amazing !!!!! It’s has been a long time since I was able to find good vegan pad Thai!

Hidden Gem

Staff is knowledgeable about ingredients and able to change menu items in order to make them vegan. Ambience and outdoor seating are serene.

Pros: Ability & willingness to accommodate vegans , Outdoor patio and bar , Great variety of choices & delicious

Cons: Surrounding neighborhood , They don’t have a full bar , Limited parking space

Fantastic Meal

A local favorite

Lovely place and excellent food. Vegan options for appetizers through desserts. My favorite green curry in the area. My friends praise the ginger fish. I’m always delighted with my fresh rolls and peanut sauce. Something for everyone.

Hidden treasures

This has to be one of the nicest restaurants we found in Daytona. Fantastic food, elegantly plated, and perfectly spiced I ordered the Red Curry w/o Coconut Milk, to get the heat I enjoy, and it was spiced quite well. The outside seating has to be the highpoint though, gorgeous patio with an open firepit. Wait staff share all patrons, there is never a lack of attention. Really, try this establishment if you desire quality vegan food in an elegant atmosphere.

Pros: Everything about this restaurant.

Cons: Umm... none.

Good Food good experience.

The selection here are very good and the food is delicious. They are very accommodating if you mention you're a vegan. They made a custom vegan Thai Noodle bowl for me that was fantastic. I decided to try the Pumpkin Delight dessert as it is vegan. It was a soup like warm dessert that isn't something I'd normally try but it turned out good and delicious!

Pros: vegan friendly, good quality food

Cons: small space, bad acoustics loud

Yum Yum Yum

Perhaps one of the best choices for Thai curries I've ever had! Not only do they offer Tofu, they're also very happy to just up the veggie in any dish - perfect if you're trying to avoid or limit your soy intake. Their sauces are excellent and they have some fine beer options. Vegans can even get dessert! I love their mango and sticky rice for a treat. I enjoyed their outside eating area - perfect for lazy sunny evenings - and the inside is kept at a decent (not freezing) temperature with very little or no music. My service has always been great - there when you need it, not when you don't. A great Daytona Beach choice.

Great But Pricey

We had some spring rolls (they call them egg rolls), summer rolls with tofu, vegetarian pho, bun something or other (vermicelli with grilled pork), jasmine rice, and a tempura banana. The food was very good but the freshness was AMAZING. You can tell they don't pre-make the items but make them for the order as they come in. The herbs are even grown ON SITE! Its awesome! There are 2 suggestions I can make to make the experience even better. Kids menu! If you want to attract families you need to make a kids menu. And second, I realize the ingredients are super fresh and the food is awesome but, the prices are a little high. We have been to many restaurants in the Orlando area where the portions are larger and the prices are lower.

Pros: Freshness, Quality, Location

Cons: No Childrens Menu, Price
