Most Bizzare Dining Experience of My Life - Edit
I went here with some friends for dinner. It was pretty late and the restaurant was almost empty, which did not create a great vibe. Nevertheless, I was optimistic based on all the great reviews.
Read moreI liked the interior design. The walls and the comfortable chairs were grey, making it the most prominent color. The were some asian paintings and decoration here and there. The dimmed lighting gave it a cozy and professional feeling.
The menu had one vegan starter, two vegan mains and one vegan dessert. I had the Gaspacho (9€) starter, the Moqueca (19€) main and the Panna cotta (9€) dessert. The Gaspacho was amazing; beautifully purple with a smooth and lovely texture. The main was disappointing. The dessert was alright.
The highlight of this evening, however, was our waiter - a young guy in a smart outfit. It was the most bizarre and unprofessional service I've ever received at a restaurant. It was especially strange since it was a somewhat fancier restaurant.
From the start he gave of a weird vibe. He never smiled. When taking our order he kind of had a questioning tone and demeanor. He noted it all down and went to the kitchen. Shortly after he came back and asked us to repeat our order, without any please or apology. Fine... We repeated our order and started to think he was there because a family member of the staff/owner. Not enough characters are allowed on HappyCow for me to write about all the strange things he did. I'll recount some more:
At one point my friend asks if the wine is vegan and the waiter looks at him as if he's stupid and says "eh... it's just grapes, of course it is?". I'd expect more from a nice restaurant with several vegan dishes.
A bit later, as we were eating our mains, he suddenly tried to take my friend's plate before he had finished. Realizing his mistake he, of course, did not apologize.
Then, as we were about to pay, he informed us that they didn't accept card (???). Come on, you need to inform your customers about that in advance. Or at least apologize for it! We of course did not have enough cash and I had to go, in the middle of the night, to the nearest ATM (10 minutes walk away) to get some. The first ATM I went to, the ATM he recommended, was blocked. Great.
The waiter's poor English paired with his social awkwardness and lack of skill created a disastrous evening that I'll never forget.
I wanted to like Zakhang. The vibe was great and the starter fantastic. But I'll never come back.

Très bons plats vegan - Edit
Très bon. Très bon assaisonnement. Agréable d'avoir des plats vegan et bien protéinés. Avec un bon dessert plein d'originalité.

Incroyable! - Edit
Definitely one of the best gastronomic experiences in a long time. We had the vegan full course menu - totally worth it. The beetroot gazpacho was mind-blowing.

What a good find - Edit
It's still always hard to find a restaurant with "real" vegan options in France. This was an excellent surprise! It offered a real vegan menu with starter, main course and even 2 desserts.

Cosy vegan friendly restaurant - Edit
This is a cosy little restaurant with clearly marked vegan options on the menu. There were two vegan mains, seitan and tofu, and a vegan dessert. I took the tofu in pepper sauce which was very tasty and well presented. Service was good and the menu was also translated into English.
