38 Athanasiou Diakou Str, Athens, Greece,

A fast food/street food vegetarian restaurant with plenty of vegan options. A really friendly place in the center of Athens, close to Acropolis metro station. Offers pita bread wraps with falafel or mung bean burgers that are baked in the oven. Also, traditional vegan pies and salads. Many gluten-free options too. Traditional refreshments (lemonade, cinnamonade, tzintzer drink) and coffees/teas/juices (plant milk available). Open Mon 8:00am-4:00pm, Tue-Sat 8:00am-11:00pm. Closed Sun.

Healthy eating with taste. - Edit

Really enjoyed this wonderful cute cafe restaurant. Loads of vegan choices. We had salads, bean burger, falafels. Seat inside or outside. They also deliver. Vegan cakes. Greek and English menu. Good English spoken.

Update. 3rd visit and I asked and they confirmed that they are 100% vegan.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

We would love to have this place in our city! - Edit

We loved the mung bean burgers, the falafel with chickpeas and the mashed potato. Salad and desserts were also very tasty. Sadly, we found this place too late on our visit to Athens. We regret we didn't find it earlier, as the food was great and with a reasonable price. We also liked very much the people who run the place. When we will come back to Athens we are definitely heading back to Zachari & Alati. Good luck to the guys running this place!

Pros: Fresh tasty homemade food, Good value, Friendly staff

Cons: None

simply good healthy food at great place - Edit

Loved the falafel & hummus. Very delicious. They also serve several pies, salads and cakes and very good tea & coffee.
Interior looks very smart with few small tables to sit.
Also several glutenfree options. Vegan &glutenfree is often a difficult combination. Not here. Go ahead check it out. 😄

Pros: open all day from 8am till 11pm

Cons: not open on Sundays 😢

Convenient and healthy! - Edit

I'd been walking by this cafe for over a year before I realized it was a vegetarian restaurant. Their falafel wrap is one of the best in Athens, and the mung bean burgers are also delicious. My other favorites are the pasta salad with creamy avocado sauce and the vegan rice pudding. They also do vegan cold and hot chocolates. It's small and cozy inside, and they also do delivery. Nice little place!

Pros: healthy, nice variety

I adore Zachari & Alati! - Edit

Healthy, homemade and delicious vegetarian and vegan "fast" food! Located near Akropolis metro station. Really love the baked falafel, vegan rice pudding (rizogalo) and lentil salad. Good value!

Pros: excellent food, good prices, takeaway

Cons: on a noisy street, small place with only a few tables

Great food - Edit

We found this tiny cafe by chance. .There are not many tables and chairs, but some are out on the pavement and some are indoors. (It is two doors down from the Royal Olympia Hotel.) Amazingly it is open all day and the evening. There is an English menu if you ask or Alati things you might speak English. I chose a 'Plastos Pie' (a sort of vegan spinach bake) which had zucchini on the side and yoghurt if you wanted it. It was only 2.90Eu. My husband had the Green Salad Gourmet salad at 5 Eu. Both were excellent. I had some Cretan wine and my my husband had a real ale - bottled - called Zeos. Afterwards we had 2 slices of apple cake. Obviously everything is home made. It was all so delicious that I wished we have found it before our last day. I cannot recommend this cafe too highly, and the food only cost 21 Eu

Simple but Tasty - Edit

Simple, tasty pre-made food at affordable prices and friendly staff. Ask for the English menu if you can't read Greek. The woman who served us was chatty and understood the difference between vegan and veg. Will most def revisit for another meal during my time here in Athens.

Pros: Simple but tasty , Offers vegan desserts, Outdoor seating

Just OK - Edit

The staff was a bit impatient and not so nice. The food is cold or room temp, and they are not so eagar to warm it up for you. Salad was very small and swimming in oil. Pies were good and tasty. We came back again, but just because of lack of vegan options.

Pros: Good pies

Cons: Cold food, staff not so nice.

recommended!! - Edit

It was a great choice to eat at this restaurant, which also works as a give away fast(but healthy)-food. The meals were tasty, very nutritional and full of imagination! The owner is very polite and friendly, he also prepares the food right in front of you, which assures for hygiene and...it raises your appetite! There are many rare products from different parts of Greece, like the delicious cinnamonade from Kos island. What I particularly liked was that the menu made use of our traditional ingredients and local tastes, showing that being vegan in Greece does not require eating imported goods from other parts of the world, because the Greek climate and agriculture can support a vegan diet with a vast variety of goods. Lastly, the prices were very convenient for the quantity and quality of food offered.

Pros: local ingredients and creative menu, fast and friendly service , value for money

5* - Edit

Nice little place in the center of Athens, with a small but delicious menu! Note that this is the only place in Athens that bakes the falafel instead of frying it, which makes it a healthier choice without sacrificing any of the taste!

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Cons: Only a few tables

Healthy and tasty!! - Edit

A lovely little cafe serving delicious, fresh, homemade and healthy food! Everything is clearly marked vegan/vegetarian/gluten free on the menu and things can be adapted with no problems.
We had a little chat with the owners and they were great - both vegan and hoping to add vegan cheese to the menu very soon! They love to try different recipes and are also really interesting people.
We ate here twice because of the great options!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Lots of gluten free options
