Don't bother. - Edit

I went to eat here but the hippy looking guy working was more interested chatting to a woman friend. After asking what was on offer he reluctantly highlighted what could be made; not much really. Did not want to interrupt his flirt with the young woman and so left. What is the purpose of this establishment? Obviously not to provide vegan food.

horrible! - Edit

The other reviews basically sum it up. For a vegetarian eco-friendly co-op place that I would like to support, this was disappointing. Everything is made of plastic. We sat down and it took 20 minutes for them to make a coffee. They never even asked me what i wanted to eat. After putting in our orders, it was an hour later and no food. we just left, they told us they should put in the menu 'food takes at least 30 mins to prepare'. find go ahead and do that in your menu, people then just wont order.
3 people were working there and they all came out of the kitchen looking like they were stoned on drugs having no idea how to do anything.
they put my coffee down and spilled it on the table.
the other women next to us also ordered food after us, but got hers first because she complained..
Its 3 tables and it feels like you're sitting in some office garage. while a busy street races cars past the whole time. i have no idea how anyone could like this place.

Pros: non

Cons: service, food, atmosphere

Take It Back 11 Aug 2011 - True. Worst staff/place in town.

Unorganized and unclean - Edit

I tried to eat @ York 52 three (!) times, but was send away each time, because the staff was still trying to get organized or whatever. When I asked to use the bathroom before having to leave, I had a glimpse at the kitchen. And damn, I have never seen a kitchen look like a bigger mess than this. Turns out I got lucky to get sent away three times. And I will never come back.

Pros: none

Cons: unorganized, unclean

Great food and very friendly staff - Edit

A great and welcoming place! I had a really tasty vegan breakfast there and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The other menu options also sounded great, but I was already too full to try anything else. But next time I'm in Berlin, I will go there again! :-)

No cooking involved...? - Edit

Contrary to what the previous reviewer said, I found that the cafe actually was cosy, decorated with lots of pillows and so forth. However, I agree that the portions are small for the price and there does not seem to be any actual cooking in the kitchen. By that I mean pretty much everything served is something one could buy oneself-- i.e., hot chocolate mix, store-bought muesli, those vegan tofu slices that are available in every health store. Yet the prices are way overpriced-- for example, a SMALL cup of tea costs almost 2 euros, but all it is is boiled water and a tea bag! Overall, I appreciate their trying to be green and the all-vegan menu, but the food selection and preparation was unimpressive. (P.S.: They do speak fluent English if you consider that appealing.)

Pros: pleasant decor, all vegan

Cons: overpriced, they don't cook

Is this a café or an office? - Edit

We tried out this place today and were quite disappointed.
The good things first: The hot chocolate was huge and tasted amazing and the service was friendly.
For main dish we tried the pizza which was far away from being great - the dough came out of a pack and was not fresh at all, the soy cheese didn't taste of anything at all and the few pieces of red pepper and courgette were neglectable. And where were the herbs on the pizza as it was promised on the menu?
We also had a portion of chips which were too salty and cost 3€, and it certainly was no big portion..
For desert we tried some date-hazelnut energy balls for 0,7€ each which were very good, though.
My organic yogi tea cost 1,9€ (quite a small glass).
For two people, we paid 23€ and we weren't particularly satisfied and full.
In addition to all that, the place wasn't cosy or anything close to that at all. We felt like we were sitting in an office or so. Everyone around us was either chatting on the phone or/and working on their laptops.
Yorck52 is certainly nothing I would plan a visit to again but I will give it another try when I'm in the area, maybe I will grab a sandwich or try the wild herbs salad next time.
I'll give tree cows for the all-vegan menu.
There is also a vegan brunch every Monday from 10am to 3pm.

Edit: Apparently, according to their website Yorck52 is no real cafe but a co-working space (whatever that means) which might explain the laptops, the computers in the gallery room and the non-cosyness^^

Pros: friendly staff, mostly organic food

Cons: uncomfortable, not cheap, no great taste really :(
