So many nice choices - Edit
I had a vegan hot dog, azuki bun and a garlic bread. The bread texture for each item was so light and soft! The garlic bread was really amazing, so flavorful. The vegan hot dog was surprisingly good too, I'm glad I tried it.

Underwhelming - Edit
I saw all these stellar reviews and decided to try. I may have just chosen wrong, but the pineapple bun was almost tasteless and the salted custard pastry was just weird, the custard and salt combo did not work well for me. Also tried the vegan egg and mayo, craving something that reminded me of an egg sandwich, this was just another let down. All I could taste was the corn and the cucumber they put in the mix😒

Tasty and a great selection - Edit
We bought a vegan egg sub, ham and hummus sandwich, a peanut butter roll, and a creamy dessert. All very good and nothing was overly sweet. Was impressed they had pineapple cake here too (plus samples!) The prices are fair and you have the opportunity to avoid plastic (byo bag or container).

Love love love! - Edit
Visited here a few times, everything I tried was amazing! Wholewheat bread here isn't too sweet, the pecan slice is delicious, different kinds of pineapple cake on offer, egg salad bun isn't too sweet, they even threw in a free salted egg pastry for me to try! They also sell mooncakes. Soy soft serve is refreshing, can sit at the front to enjoy by the window :)

Bread heaven - Edit
First of all, I'm devastated that on my second visit there (on my last day in Taipei) Yiihotang was closed because it was Wednesday! Can't believe I was only able to enter heaven once. That one time was amazing though and after plowing through about 4 breads, the matcha pudding and the best ever mango sponge cake (still daydreaming about that), they topped it off with the tea flavoured soft serve in a sea salt half-bun. I will treasure the memories forever.

Yiii! yummy & so many options - Edit
Wide range of options, FM tried the pineapple cake and cheesy cream bagel. 4 stars not 5 because both were good but not outstanding (the pineapple cake was a little dry and the bagel a bit chewy).

Great stuff, good selection - Edit
I came here while waiting for my table at Hoshina next door. Lots of tasty stuff available, even late in the day. Had some red bean bread, a peanut bun, and some assorted pastries. All were excellent, tasty. The price was a bit on the high side but it's worth it. I personally prefer Hip Pun as far as vegan bakeries in Taipei go, but this is a close second.
Read moreThey also sell pineapple cakes. I bought a couple, but can't say how good they are, because somebody at my hostel stole and ate them before I had my chance. But they apparently liked the first one enough to go back for a second.

the best vegan croissant - Edit
Their vegan croissant is the best I had (better than Paris!). They're buttery, soft, creamy, a little flaky. They also have soft and creamy buns (and the cheese one was satisfying). They also have vegan pineapple tarts, the one mixed with grapefruit was lovely. Soft serve ice cream on a half bun too.

Amazing bakery - Edit
This vegan bakery is very well known among people in Taiwan, also non vegans. The vegan pineapple cake (traditional sweet from Taiwan) makes for a perfect gift!

Lovely vegan bakery - Edit
Yiihotang seems to be the only place that offers vegan pineapple cake, which is why I visited. They have a large variety of baked goods on offer, many are Taiwanese/Asian style pastries. You can also get soft serve ice cream (the day we visited, it was some sort of black tea flavour), which was tasty. Also purchased vegan pineapple cake (original, and macadamia, they were out of the pineapple-pomelo version), which is a little dry so best to eat it with tea or coffee. Also tried their tiramisu cup (good, but I've had better) and the matcha pudding with caramel sauce (our favourite – definitely getting this again the next time we're in Taiwan. We also won their panettone in their Christmas special event, but haven't tried this yet.
Read moreCompared to many vegan bakeries I've come across, Yiihotang has high quality products that can compete with regular, non-vegan bakeries. Everything is beautifully styled – none of the 'homemade' look but the pastry chefs here have been properly trained. Looking forward to returning in the future, to buy what we loved (the matcha pudding) and try a few more things (the black sesame pudding, the 'egg yolk' pastry).
Pros: High quality vegan pastries and cakes, Has vegan pineapple cake + egg yolk pastry, Amazing matcha pudding

Only fluffy bread - Edit
It’s rare to find any bakeries with more than one vegan item in Taiwan, and this specific location of Yihetang (or however they goofily spell it with some non-standard Taiwanese system of romanization that I refuse to use) is 100% vegan. They even make the chain’s signature sea salt butter croissant with soy butter. Unfortunately, like other Taiwanese bakeries, their bagels are just bagel-shaped breads, not real bagels. They have pastries, breads, desserts, and soy milk. Go earlier rather than later in the day for the best selection. Enjoy the Japanese level of service where you’re greeted upon entering and acknowledged as you depart.

I’m encountering more misses than hits recently. For instance, the sweet potato cheese bread was mostly fluffy bread with some small chunks of sweet potato and no cheese to point to. Similar experience with their pizza bread. It’s disappointing to be fooled into thinking there will be more to their products than just bread. At this price point, you’d think there would be more to their products. Additionally, almost everything has the same fluffy texture even when it’s a baked good that isn’t supposed to be (e.g., pie, croissant, bagel, pineapple bun).
It’s nice that they started accepting credit cards, however. And they are selling their own soy milk but in plastic bags.
Pros: all vegan, all the time, freshly baked bread & pastries, great service
Cons: very few samples, pricey

Delicious and High Quality - Edit
Was here July 2019. Saw this on happycow and gave it a try on our trip to Taipei. Here's my Yiihotang review. Was thrilled to see an all vegan bakery. Everything looked appetizing, and we tried a bunch of different items including a croissant shape bun, savory potato bun, multi-grain mini loaf, mango cake, chocolate cupcake, and a couple kinds of mini baguettes with sweet fillings inside. Everything was delicious and tasted like the place uses good quality ingredients.

Great bakery where you don’t have to worry about whether what you’re grabbing is vegan or not. The cheese stick is legit as hell. Bought several of them and regretted not buying more.
