Yi Xin Vegetarian in Bishan - Edit
Taking up the space of a Dessert House and Vegetarian Eatery, Yi Xin Vegetarian in Bishan which is not the same Yi Xin Vegetarian in Chinatown (although same name), has been operating there for months. It is located near S11 and in front of the Children Playground and a good choice for family with children (children can play while parents can dine and look out at the same time).
Patronized this eatery for a few times, as the other two vegetarian eateries near Bishan J8 had folded up. Yi Xin Vegetarian offers simple Chinese Vegetarian Food Fare (Ala Carte, Set Meal for Solo), mixed rice, eggless pastries and vegetarian snacks.
Fried Rice with different ingredients which is the common item on most of the vegetarian menu is available here. The Fried Cedar Rice $4, is light and puffy with tiny bits of mock ham. With a little touch or garnish would make this dish more appetizing.
The signature noodle - Fried Fresh Mushroom Noodle (Flat Udon) $4 is tasty and a little peppery. I would think a lighter sauce might bring out the Udon in this dish else it just looks like normal noodle.
Another scrumptious-looking Tofu Dish is Fried Scramble Tofu $6 which the name does not really represent the dish. It is deep-fried Tofu with batter and drizzle with Thai Chilli Sauce (quite fiery). Light, crispy and well fried coating, however the tofu lack a smooth texture and taste on its own.
Might not be a good choice for children or those who do not take spicy food. If there is non-spicy sauces like Japanese Soy Sauce with grated daikon or Teriyaki Sauce or Special mayo sauce served at the side that would be good.
If individual tastes of each person can be catered for via having more choices like Japanese Soy Sauce with Wasbi, Pepper and Salt would make this dish more versatile. Same goes to some of the other dishes on the menu like Sambal Kang Kong and Stir-fry Bitter Gourd.
For beverage, the choices are limtied - we had home-made barely $1.
