All sold out

Go early for the vegan cake!
We visited at 4pm on a busy Saturday afternoon, was disappointed (but pleased it was popular) that the 1 vegan cake they had, had sold out. All of the other cake had slices left! It was caramelised biscuit cake, which sounded amazing but it was not to be. We had oat lattes in the garden with great views over the town

I had a nice cake

There was a vegan special and I had one of the two lovely cakes offered. I stayed here about 30 years ago when it was one of CHA's many walking holiday centres. The YHA's café is where the boot room was, and this company and its twin's HF Holidays distinction was to have a vegetarian option on their menu's.

Pros: nice cake, Beutiful location

Cons: I only counted 196 steps down to Whitby, Whitby now does not have a Sutcliffe Gallery/shop

Great Views and Atmosphere

This is a real gem of a place which strives hard to cater for vegans in an area that is a tourist spot especially for goths, as well as being a fishing port. It serves delicious vegan squid made from some kind of mushrooms. Most of the food is adequate with a few options particularly late morning, and It is reasonably priced. But try to go in the evening to enjoy the sunsets and views which are worth the climb up the hill from the town below. The ninety nine steps and crowds can be avoided by going up a side path with gentler slopes.

Pros: Location , Historic and Cultural atmosphere , Vegan squid

Cons: Mediterranean pizza a bit dry
