This was our first meal in Budapest and thought it was pretty good. The outdoor seating area is a nice place to eat in a pedestrian walkway. We were excited to try some vegan takes on Hungarian dishes. These were very filling dishes.

Super friendly stuff and filling food portions. Also they made spontaneous cocktail options for us. (The chicken main courses tasted a little bit like a vegan fish option, but I liked it and was different from all vegan-meat I ever tasted)

First we went to It Is Vegan II as we urgently needed a vegan cake for a party happening on the same day. The staff were very helpful and went the extra mile to help us. The cake was delicious!

Read moreI got an appetizer first, which was literally just a handful of tortilla chips and a few chopped veggies with dip. Directly after we got the main dishes, which was a "chicken"/paprika stew and pulled pork stew, both with rice. They were both boring and had no veggies, only meat substituted. Even the beer we got, was bad.
The good thing was that we were hungry and got full.

Delicious food. We aren’t vegans and never tried that kind of vegan food before. We could never tell it’s vegan, it was so good. The personal was very nice and fast. Also the owner was open to answer all of our questions about the menu.

I traveled around 10 countries this summer and I had my favorite meal here! The Cesar salad, Hungarian gulash bean soup, and the almost chicken paprikash were TO DIE FOR. The service was slow but that was only because 1 person was serving the entire restaurant! He was still helpful and nice to us although obviously stressed (and I don’t blame him)! I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Hungover staff - Edit
Came here for breakfast. The staff was so hungover and didn’t care much for us. The place was not cleaned and smelled of alcohol from the night before. Asked for an iced coffee, got a hot latte. I again asked for an iced coffee and then he just came out with some ice cubes I could put in the hot latte. I then complained and said this just was lukewarm coffee now. Then he rolled his eyes at me. The staff wasn’t anywhere to find inside when I wanted to ask for the toilet. Food was okay but nothing special.

At the arrival it was said there is some problem with being understaffed, so we'll have to wait for cca. 20-25 minutes. I specificaly said we would not wait if it was closer to an hour and a half and the waiter said it will definetly not be as long. We took a seat and I took the menus myself to help them out. We ordered. Waited for appetiser more than half an hour and when we got it, it was misplaced order, got something we did not order. Than we waited another 40 minutes for main dish. Mine was cold, rice was clumped together and I only got a few spoons of sauce. The servings was awfully small, I was hungry when I got out of the restaurant. This whole time didn't say a word, even said everything was good, even tho it was not (at least the food tasted fine, nothing special, but fine). Than I asked to pay, was ignored and when I went to the restaurant to ask for payment, stating we really have to go, the waiter started to scream at me that he is not my slave and I should just go and never come back and not pay and learn how to be human. He was yelling, never ever something like that happened to me before. I was shocked. I was trying to get my credit card out when he was rasing his voice at me. It was terrifying.

Great vegan Hungarian dishes - Edit
We’ve been here 3 days and already came here 3 times. The server is super nice, and the food is excellent. Had the gyros (sauce was my favorite), chicken paprikash, potato goulash, Caesar salad, tomato soup, garlic soup, and the vegan tofu breakfast with bacon.

The vadas style main dish didn't remind me to the original recipe, but was tasty nevertheless. The chicken paprikás was nice.

Lovely place with very kind server and delicious food. All vegan, which is great, and a varied but not over the top selection of dishes. We went with the wild stew and the paprikash, both original hungarian dishes, and instandly fell in love with the cuisine. This must be hungarian food at its best. Very refined flavours, light and yet hearty at the same time. The meat-replacement in each dish was delicious, with just the right texture and bite for the dish. Definitely recommend going here!
