A Squeaky Vegan Gets the Grease - Edit
From the surface, one might imply this place is vegan-friendly. A closer look reveals that while vegetarians may find a few potentially satisfying options here, vegans are barely considered.
Read moreYes, YH has Gardien products, which it employs in several menu items spanning wings, sandwiches, salads, orange chiken, Nashville hot chiken, and more.
No, YH does not offer vegan ranch, aioli, or mayo to complement and/or lubricate these options, leaving things feeling dry and otherwise incomplete. This may be somewhat rectified with orthodox condiments like ketchup, mustard, and/or barbecue sauce, but at what cost?
Because most disappointing, and really the main reason for this rather-low rating, is that beyond just a risk, cross-contamination seems to be a seasoning at YH. The shared frier (in which YH transparently discloses these Garde-ingots are prepared) is evidently thick with myriad animal grease, of which fish is most pungently represented.
“But debauchero, you’re being so critical of a place that has plant-based offerings. Some of us just want options.” Hey, I get it, and you do you. But for me, a dirty shared frier is one blecky bridge too far.
This is more meant as a fair warning to those first-timers who may be lured in by the Gardein siren call. Again, YH may seem vegan-friendly on paper. Your carnivore aunt Betty will be tricked into thinking this is a swell place to get the whole gang together with something for everyone. But I think many, despite their dietary and/or lifestyle preferences, will find this food mid, at best. Because let’s be honest, YH is basically an overpriced Applebees with a better beer selection. It’s got the same heat-up-frozen-[censored]-in-the-back vibe that’s commonplace in corporate-driven chaintopia.
If you do find yourself here, I’d stick with the edamame, a basic salad, or possibly the in-house veggie burger, brussels sprouts, or jumbo pretzel. Most of these may require further investigative journalism to suss out any remaining animal products. The menu’s leaf icons denote vegetarian items, so beyond certain omissions of creamy sauces and cheese, it may be apt to question if things have butter embedded (i.e., brioche buns, wing sauce, etc.)
Lastly, this particular location is particularly malodorous. Anyone who’s worked in a line knows the singular, sickly smell that emanates from the kitchen of an establishment and permeates its interior.
And that can only be remedied by one thing:

Lots of options - Edit
Super vegan friendly- be careful though, they advertise things as vegetarian because some of the items contain dairy and egg. Just make sure you ask!

If you miss Buffalo Wings... - Edit
The Brussels Sprouts & Potato appetizer (no aioli) was so good! They even made me a vegan sauce to go with it, but it just wasn’t necessary. But I went for the WINGS! I don’t usually eat faux foods but I’m a sucker for Yard House buffalo wings. SO DELICIOUS

Yummy Gardein options! - Edit
First of all, I'm a major Gardein fangirl, so when my omnivore family wanted to go to a pub that had an entire Gardein section in its menu I was all in.
Read moreThey have a Gardein burger and sliders (omit the cheese and special sauce), which comes with fries. They also have Gardein "wings" in a variety of different flavors. The sliders & wings are on the Happy Hour menu, so from 3p-6p, M-F, they are nearly 1/2 off.
They have pasta options as well but I've never tried those. They've also added more veggie appetizers, like a cauliflower dish & a Brussels Sprouts & Potato dish. I don't know what sauces these are cooked with (haven't tried them) so make sure you inquire with the chef or manager (not the waiter) before ordering.
Food was fresh, yummy, and nicely presented. We had good table service. It was perfect for a pre-concert dinner. (Gila River Arena is only @ 100 feet away.)
If you're shopping or headed to a concert in this Westgate area, there aren't many options for vegans. Yard House is a solid choice, particularly when dining with omnivores.
