Perfect after the Shimanami Kaido! - Edit
Definitely recommend making sure you have some time in Onomichi to try this cafe! Great decor and the staff were so kind to make me the vegan set even after lunch time had passed. It was wonderful!

May 2021 - it appears to have one vegan bento box, to take away only at the moment. See photos for details.

Tasty vegan lunch set. The croquette, pickles, and salad were really nice but the tofu dish and burdock were pretty average.

Sweet baby Jesus, the vegan Japanese plate was absolutely delicious, and I had the dessert too. Super fresh, you can tell they put their heart into their food.

Fun restaurant - Edit
We all loved this place. Wholesome and satisfying food - enough for the vegans and the vegetarians...they also serve some meat. Great vibe, trendy but still felt cosy. Fab pickles.

Read moreOne of the only options in Onomichi, so were a bit apprehensive, but the food was Incredible!
Only 2 vegan options but the food is so good it doesn't matter. We had the dinner set which was ¥1600 including a drink (alcohol/soft/tea/coffee). Good value for the amount you get!!
Honestly some of the best Japanese food I've had as well!!!
Pros: Delicious food, High quality, Good value
Cons: Only 2 vegan options (but AMAZING)

Everything was fresh, delicious, and big portions. A tad expensive, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. Easy to recommend

The best food in all of Japan - Edit
A bold call I know. I've travelled Japan three times now and have never had a meal as satisfying as the vegan dinner set I had at Yameneko cafe. Every element was perfect, the pickled vegetables the best I've ever had (and I love pickles!), and the potato croquettes were to die for. Spiced similar to an Indian samosa and crispy and perfect. The tofu steak is unique and in a flavourful broth, unlike anything I've eaten before.

I'll definitely be back.

Great adress in Onomichi - Edit
We had the vegetable lunch (vegan) and the vegan cake set. It was really tasty and worth the price. The 1000 yens menu includes rice, soup, a salad, two sides, a main and a drink. Great atmosphere and convenient location.

Outstanding - Edit
This place was absolutely incredible! We went back twice it was so good! They had a really delicious set meal that came with a tofu steak type thing and a little crumbled potato ball. They also had a really delicious coconut and banana cake that I would recommend! It’s also an amazing spot with some super groovy music if that’s what you are into!

Very good! - Edit
We came between the lunch and dinner times, so we only got to eat some appetizers, but the spicy French fries were delicious! We also each had a slice of vegan strawberry cake that was really yummy. This cafe is super cute and cozy! The staff is friendly and helpful. Although their English was a bit limited, we had no trouble getting vegan food here. They also had the new Jimonolive CD, which is really good.

The one vegan choice on the lunch menu is good and reasonably priced, but everything in it was either sweet or slightly sweet.

Yummy vegan cake - Edit
I visited the cosy cafe located on the basement floor and ate a vegan cake (I did not find it in the menu, but asked for it). It was super delicious and nicely arranged on the plate. The staff knew basic English and was very friendly. I liked the artsy atmosphere. Next to the cash desk they sold some bits and pieces like towels with lovely kitten imprints.
