The deli counter is filled with prepared food that's ready to eat or to cook, including Korean barbecue chickn empanadas, veggie ground round, a soy-based Mongolian beef, beet burgers, and no-crab cakes. Take-out only. Reported closed August 2023.

Great street food and great service - Edit
This is a cute place with many vegan meat options and some street food. I had the sausage roll - great! And the crab cake - a bit oily for my taste. Also tried some of the vegan meats, they're very good. Some may have a weird consistency once you try them cold, but it gets better when it's heated. Go for it!

Fantastic idea - Edit
I stumbled across Yam Chops by accident, and was delighted to visit an all vegan ‘butcher’! It’s a really clever concept with yummy food, the staff member I met was really friendly and happy to answer my questions. She also let me try samples of the deli items so I could see if I liked them - I ended up getting the souvlaki chicken and Szechuan beef, though I’d be curious to try some of their other products in the future!

Interesting all-vegan deli concept - Edit
I think the concept of a vegan deli is just a great idea. I appreciate that everything they sell on the counter is made in-house, although not everything seems always fresh. Regarding taste, most things are too spicy for me, but I love their Mongolian "beef" and schnitzels, as well as potato salad and tuna-less salad. Their dressings and pasta sauce are good, too.

Delicious arancini and cheese - Edit
We ordered some food from Yam Chops for an appetizer plate and it was a big hit. Our omnivorous friends loved the vegan arancini and came back for seconds. The vegan cheese selection was very well received by friends as well.

Vegan “Deli” items - Edit
Cute shop in Little Italy. Lots of variety in their fresh and frozen foods as well as juices. I’ve tried the thanksgiving dinner and a few other items during my regular visits, all have been ok. However, the last few visits I’ve left unimpressed not ordering anything.
Read moreMy hometown has a natural vegan deli like this in the health food shop and is so fresh and natural with hundreds of recipes nd staples throughout the year, so I think my interest faded here quickly due to lack of flavour. Great concept though, give it a try if you haven’t already.
Pros: Vegan, Veggie Burgers
Cons: Price , Lack of Variety, Fresh flavours are lacking

I wanted to love it so much - Edit
It was alright. I tried the pasta salad, tuna salad, egg salad, and chicken shwarma. Nothing was thrilling. The tuna salad was mostly just a chickpea paste with some relish, the egg salad was, I think, shredded tuna with something a little briney? The shwarma was good enough. The pasta salad was just kind of weird. I think the flavors were curry and dill, which isnt' what I was expecting.
Read moreI know you can taste everything before you buy, but it would still be helpful to have a little description of the products on the signs. The pasta salad specifically was really unexpected.
I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here.
Pros: Vegan groceries, Good customer service
Cons: Expensive

Cool idea, neat space, pricey - Edit
Yam Chops is a cool idea and I really like the place. I do, however, find it pricey, especially their prepared sandwiches. I won't buy those anymore as I find the prices ridiculous (I mostly bought them at other places, like Noah's).
Read moreI do enjoy trying different things at the deli, and I love perusing the fridge and freezer to discover what new stuff they have. I bought their own frozen "meat"balls this past trip but haven't made them yet so can't review. I like that they carry a few things hard to find elsewhere.
I like their "chicken" shwarma a lot.
Staff always friendly, and like that I can use my TVA card there for 10% discount.
Pros: love the various deli options, "chicken" shwarma, friendly staff
Cons: expensive and some items not worth it

Great Huge Samosas - Edit
Great take out counter with items you can take home for later or have warmed up for a meal. Like a deli where your container is priced by weight. Faux meat strips, salads and samosas. We had the samosas for about 5$ each. They are huge, delicious and filling. They come with a tamarind dipping sauce. Staff is fantastic and offered for me to taste anything I like. They also have specialty vegan groceries that are harder to find in loblaws like my favourite yoso cream cheese, daiya chese, vegan mayo (a few brands) and much more.

Nice deli - Edit
When I first went vegan I loved Yam Chops. I found the deli chicken awesome to put in stir frys and other dishes. However it is a bit pricey and it's something that can be home made much to my surprise. Yam chops is still excellent but almost a little too much like real meat for my tastes now (which isn't a negative for some people!)

Good but as much gimmick as innovativation. - Edit
They have a deli counter with several mock meat items. You can buy by weight or have them make you a meal using these items. It's good but not great, and not as innovative as the hype would have you believe.

Cute concept - Edit
This really is a vegetarian butchery. There are display cases with "veg proteins". Burgers, sausages and flavoured up mock meats like teriyaki chicken, tuna salad from chickpeas, etc. Prepared salads are also available. Also available are takeaway meals, juices, and they have grocery items like vegenaise, tempeh/tofu, and ice cream/popsicle treats in the freezer section. The butcher part is paid by weight. Limited seating, this place is meant for takeaway.
Read moreI highly recommend the chicken salad. Their juices are actually really good (the pineapple with a hint of mint was genius. They told me they use a cod-press juicer so it can last longer. Not long until it went into my belly! I also highly recommend their prepared boxes. I tried the Indonesian tofu which was fabulous with the mango salsa and the chickpea wraps with the mango tamarind chutney was also incredible. Lots of fresh greens. Highly recommended.
Cons: limited seating
Energetic
So glad to see someone else appreciated this wonderful place. I went especially for the Coconut Bacon (when visiting Toronto) and am so glad I decided to stop for lunch. Delicious, The Staff were very friendly and helpful and kindly recommended Dolce- a wonderful espresso bar a few doors away. I hope my Coconut Bacon lasts until I get back to Toronto
