Hidden gem - Edit
This place was a great discovery. Went here after a lovely walk at the institute for nature. Worked up a little appetite and ended up having a really nice lunch. It's in a neat community space. Def recommend it if you're in the area

Yummy Hot pots - Edit
We tried both the Korean Miso Hot Pot and the Spicy Soft Tofu Hot Pot. They were deliciously prepared and served with rice, black beans, vegetables, and kimchi.

Standard option - Edit
First a word of caution: Yachego has very limited opening hours. They're open only a few days a week, and during those days they only serve lunch. And it seems many foreign guests use this opportunity to make the same day trip as I did, because the staff knew exactly where I came from (the parasite museum) and where I was likely to go next (the parcel museum). Yachego really is a Korean restaurant, because I could use my very limited knowledge of the Korean language to greet and thank the staff.
Read moreBoth from the inside and outside Yachego looks like a safe-the-world-lefty-idealist-vegan restaurant, so I felt right at home. It smells like recycled wood and there's a large shared work space for locals. The menu has just a few options and they depend on whatever ingredients are available / locally sourced that day.
I chose the noodles and thanks to the herbs and dressing they do indeed have a distinctive Korean flavour that differs from the standard Japanese flavour. Of course there's kimchi on the side, because what's a Korean restaurant without kimchi? The corn-tea was a new and very interesting experience for me.
So when you plan to make it a standard day of visiting the museums in Meguro, do visit that standard restaurant. Yachego is worth it!
Pros: true Korean food, staff speaks Japanese, Korean and English
Cons: very limited opening hours, very limited menu

The best vegan Korean food of my life… - Edit
I’ve had trouble finding good vegan Korean food back home, but this Tokyo treasure really hit the spot. It’s a basement space with a bar and some table seating, sort of like a speak easy. I tried the Bibimbap and the Sundubu Jjigae and my oh my, both were really delicious. Hands down some of the best Korean food I’ve had IMHO.

Good Korean food. Only open for short hours on specific days. Please check ahead. The two women that run the restaraunt also speak decent English!

Real Korean food, vegan style! - Edit
Food is very cheap, tastes like real Korean food and is very delicious.
Read moreMy sundebu jigae was a lil spicy, so felt really good after eating it. A proper cleanse it was!
Staff is nice, food is nice, prices are great.
Location is bad, the restaurant operates lunch only and in a basement bar, which is not appealing. Im sure if they ever wanted to expand their business, they would do great- food is amazing!

Cash only - Edit
Yachego is one of those owner operated lunch-only places that share a venue with another business. In this case they share a venue with a craft-beer bar.
Read moreWe ordered three different dishes, soft tofu stew, bibimbap, and cabbage rolls. The tofu stew was tasty, however, the bibimbap and the cabbage-rice rolls were very plain and mostly just rice. There was not enough veggies.
There is a limited number of seats and the wait for food was rather long which was surprising given that for example the rice rolls were pre-made and just needed to be plated.
The place is cash only, there is an ATM in the 7-Eleven across the street though. You’ll need to withdraw a minimum of 10k jpy there.

Amazing Korean food - Edit
Really incredibly tasty lunch offering from this place. Only just opened with 5 or 6 different dish options. I had one of the stews with a side of jijimi pancakes - really good but slightly less spicy than expected for Korean. No complaints though. The staff were lovely too. Set in a cute craft beer bar, downstairs.

If you want some real vegan korean food, look no further. - Edit
Its really hard to find Vegan Korean food here in Japan.
Read moreBeing half Korean, Im also very picky with how they are prepared and above all, how it tastes.
Yachego, definitely hit the spot for me and i was more than happy with the outcome.
Although the DenJan Chige tasted a bit more like Chongukjang, none the less, to taste these foods - was a blessing. My Korean side recommends this place to anyone craving Korean food with a seal of approval. I think you will love it. We def need more places like this!!
