Well-crafted, vegetable-based fare

Really delicious, fulfilling vegetable-based plates at XYST. Most of XYST's menu is or can be made gluten-free. We enjoyed the nut-based halloumi cheese, za'atar carrots, socca, smoky hummus, and eggplant for dinner (very delicious, and enough for the three of us). The lemon meringue pie was an exceptional dessert to top of the meal.

This restaurant is a lovely option for a nice meal out.

Pros: Nice ambience, Friendly staff

Cons: Slower service

Excellent staff and tiny garden patio living large

I’ve visited several times and really enjoy the excellent service and friendly staff - Amy and everyone. The falafels and hummus are good but not as inspiring as the Kale Caesar salad with tempeh bacon and the roasted tofu dish on pita with vegan hollandaise sauce for brunch. The crostini with cashew cheese is an acquired taste - it’s a strong cheese but makes a nice pairing with the vegan wines. Nice to live large with the native plants on the garden patio in the afternoon for weekend brunch. Very pleasant and welcoming.

Sunflower Seed Baklava I died I am in Heaven

I love Kenny eateries but the food is inconsistent— changing chefs? Also this place doesn’t serve food during certain time frames so call before coming unless you want to sit at the bar and drink. $12 Vegan Sunflower Seed Baklava I died I am in Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!! Vegan honey vibe, rose water spectacular presentation!

Update: I was there lunch they don’t have the same dish at dinner and I try the cauliflower dinner and just wasn’t for me.

I loved lunch. With all Mathew places their is a time out between and the staff was having a meeting than ran 15 min past 5pm opening. Beautiful vine nice staff. I wish it stayed open and I could get a bowl of the warm cauliflower with tahini no cauliflower couscous.

Lunch (not on diner menu)
Roasted cauliflower delicious served warm part of dish - I could have skipped cold cauliflower couscous 1/2 and taken a 2nd helping of hot cauliflower!

The cashew Halloumi excellent!!! I asked for a small side of tahini, cauliflower to eat the rest of his amazing crackers that remind me of a supersecret superthin matzo

As always and all Matthew Kenney restaurants the staff are really nice, professional and kind

Pros: great

Expected More

I was so looking forward to coming to Matthew Kenney’s XYST, but was a bit underwhelmed. The food and plating is typical MK, beautiful! The portions are small and quite expensive. All of the dishes came out within minutes of each other so there was no room ok the table to fit the plates. Bad timing! Felt rushed to finish just to fit the dishes on the table. Restaurant is very dark which does nothing for showing off the beautiful plating! Staff was helpful and friendly... Was just expecting more from the menu... but the Falafel was the best ever and the Smokey Hummus was delicious!

Pros: All Vegan, Interesting Combinations , Flavorful

Cons: Very Expensive, Small portions

We were not expecting to spend over $80 on 3 plates. Food was great, price was a little much.

Vegan Mediterranean food

Place is a restaurant from Mathew Kenney. I’m currently in a trip to USA visiting only vegan restaurants, So far have been to Portaland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.
Have to say, this place is rating on my top 5, maybe even the top 1.
Food is excellent, well prepared, and with flavors and contrasts you’ll just going to love.
Customer service also great, every open a 10 !
A plus, there’s an open kitchen, so you can actually see the inside and guts of the making, and for me that’s always welcomed, a sign of transparency and food quality.

Pros: incredible variety of dishes, Well served, best customer service

Cons: really, no cons
