Une très belle découverte - Edit
Xuxu est un des meilleurs restaurants où nous avons mangé. La carte est originale et les plats très savoureux. Nous nous sommes régalés de l'entrée au dessert.

Great homemade food - Edit
Really good food and drinks selection and even different desserts. The food was tasty but lacked a bit salt. We had a vegan bourgignonne and autumn rolls. We especially loved the starter - a dip made from chestnuts. And the brownie dessert was also good, but would have been better with sugar instead of dates.

Expectations were high, as I had failed to visit Xuxu last summer due to their opening hours being in conflict with my schedule. Fresh off a terrific lunch at Le Jardin, I followed my eating spree at a place run by friends of theirs. Great to hear there's camaraderie, because if I were to vote for a winner it would be an easy pick this time round. That's right, Xuxu were a bummer of an experience because of a bowl of the week that was one of the blandest things I've eaten in a very long time. I was pleasantly surprised they stayed away from the MEA (mango, edamame, avocado) trifecta that seems to be all the rage these days, but despite promising ingredients such as padrón peppers, I'm afraid the dish lacked flavour and did next to nothing for me.

While it's a shame Xuxu don't offer a formule du midi type of deal (starter and main course or main course and dessert for a fixed price), I will eventually give this place another chance.

Creative lunch in Biarritz - Edit
Xuxu is quite small and so is its menu, 2 starters, 2 mains (out of which one is a burger) and 2+ desserts, and added to that, the main dish of the week. However there are only so many of the last each day, meaning there might not be any left if you come on the late side of lunchtime... (even if you booked a table) and then you'll just have to pick one of the 2 mains.

Service is friendly, food is all vegan, local & gluten free.
The spring rolls were a stunner, the burger a bit on the dry side. We took the desserts as take aways and they were both beautiful and delicious, and not too sweet. (see pics for all these)
The price is a bit on the expensive side, depending on the dish, and the decoration/comfort of the restaurant is basic.
Pros: One of only 2 all vegan places in Biarritz, Great desserts, Good quality ingredients

- bounty (je n'en avais pas mangé d'aussi bon depuis que je suis végane) 🤍🤍🤍

Si vous êtes de passage à Biarritz ou aux alentours, il vous faudra absolument manger chez Xuxu 😊

We enjoyed our dinner at Xuxu, the ingredients were fresh, organic, and used creatively. We tried the two mains that were available, the burger and the spring rolls, they were both quite nice. The prices were a bit high (€19 for a plate) but as everything was bio, gluten free, and home made it makes sense and was worth it for the nice dinner while visiting Biarritz.

Pequeño restaurante vegano sin gluten en Biarritz. Probamos un entrante que tenía 3 untables deliciosos y el plato del día que estaba hecho con coliflor con cúrcuma que estaba muy rico. De postre tenían varias opciones, nosotros elegimos la del limón que la base estaba un poco dura pero el sabor era muy rico.

I have been vegan for over 5 years now, and fully support restaurants and cafes that try to be vegan, veggie, gluten free, etc., but in my 5 years of veganism, I have never had such a disappointing meal at a restaurant. The apple cider tasted like apple cider vinegar, and costed €11.50, when it should have been closer to €5. The starters were insufficient and lacked flavour. The “Noodle” main was salty felt chaotic, and the portion was far too large. The staff, although kind and polite, lacked professionalism, and we ended up with about 10 waitresses all sat at a table eating birthday cake, and no one to serve us. Everything was over priced, and for 2 of us to eat a meal each here, it was an outrageous price. The facilities were the crème de la crème of this restaurant’s inability to provide adequate food and service to it’s customers. The toilet was sort of in a back alley behind the restaurant, and it felt like a crack den. I hope this restaurant ups it’s game, however at the moment, I would not recommend anyone to try out Xuxu.
