Reminds me of Taiwanese ru rou fan

Went to try their clay pot rice after reading the reviews on HappyCow but was told they are not selling this dish anymore. Instead the owner recommended me to try their Taiwanese braised pork rice as it is popular with their customers.

Wasn’t expecting anything good as I really wanted to have clay pot rice but once I started eating, I couldn’t stop. The bowl has the right amount of serving and the top is filled with braised tauhu, taupok, mushroom, peanut, minced “meat”, green leafy vegetables, and three layer “meat” and some others which I wasn’t able to recognise.

I finished the entire bowl and totally enjoyed it because it reminds me of the ru rou fan I had when I was in Taiwan and when I was still a meat eater. I have a tendency to prefer slight bland and not oily or overpowering in taste, and they cooked it such that there is a lot of sauce but it doesn’t make you feel bloated or it’s way too much. Just the right amount of taste and hitting the right spots.

I’m glad I didn’t have their clay pot 🥰

Pros: Lots of ingredients , Taste like taiwan ru rou fan (without the meat), Balance in taste

Interesting Clay Pot Kuay Teow

Quite interesting to find Clay Pot Kuay Teow as one of the items they offer. Savoury, piping hot with vegetables and bean strips.

Pleasant surprise. Good food, great service

Passed by a couple of times but didn’t try their food. Finally got to try it today and it was good. Plenty of healthy Chinese vegan food in their menu.

Amazing claypot bak kut teh

Delicious claypot brewed bak kut teh. Its rare for vegetarians to get this and this is my favourite dish here. Having said that, I've tried their hotpot with noodles, prawn mee and sambal fish, and I can honestly said I've yet to taste anything bad from this place. Two thumbs up!

Wide variety of Chinese dishes :)

- Dumpling noodles ($5) came with greens & chunks of tomato, and a small bowl of light-tasting abc-like soup on the side :) The dumplings were stuffed with chewy minced soy & pieces of black fungus, and were topped with tiny lil’ crispy fritters for that texture contrast. Really liked the eggless noodles commonly used for wanton mee, and the yummy soy-sauce-based gravy :)
- Claypot rice with herbal soup ($6)~ Loved the braised chestnuts, firm tofu, bean curd skin, crispy bits, thinly sliced mushrooms & the colourful assortment of veggies :) The sauce used tasted like star-anise-spiced kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), which I found a lil’ too sweet for a savoury dish, though some people may welcome this twist. Their flavourful herbal soup was really warm & comforting as usual :) Special thanks to the uncle for requesting the cooks to make the rice below more crispy for me, though the rice turned out to be a lil’ too moist anyway which allowed only a few grains to turn crunchy xD
- All their dishes are vegan unless you request for eggs but you can check with the staff just to double confirm! :)

Pros: Pretty affordable (esp considering their central l, Tasty, Central location
