Make this a must for a fine vegan dining experience!

Wonderful meal with the tasting menu. Local ingredients, great combinations and excellent service. Sit at the bar for an extra treat to see the dishes being prepared from scratch.
Disparaging comments about vegans by the manager in French to some diners didn’t sit well!

Pros: Excellent range of options, Wonderful service - helpful, friendly, Good value for money

Romantic vegan supper

This restaurant was right across the street from our Eixample District hotel. Each course was delicious and creatively presented. The staff was attentive and spoke English. It made for a pleasant and romantic dinner date with my husband.

A great experience

I went here with my omni partner for our anniversary and it was a great experience. I had been a bit worried due to the mixed reviews on happy cow but I'm so glad we went for it anyway. Of course it's quite pricey, but it's worth it for a special occasion (and I don't think 85 € for a 9 meal menu is unheard of). The place looked fancy, had a good ambience, staff was very attentive and informative and most importantly - the food was delicious. My partner had the omnivore taster menu and I had the vegan taster menu and except from two dishes we had mostly the same dishes, adapted differently in the vegan menu, which I thought was nice because then we could talk about how we both liked it. I have to say, when I saw the pictures in here of the carrot on a plate, I thought it looked quite ridiculous, but it was actually a flavour explosion, being caramelised in something orange flavoured. I will agree that as it is a tasting menu, portions are small and you do not leave the place bursting, but it wasn't like I needed to eat anything else for the rest of the evening. I do think that adding an a bit heavier meal towards the end of the vegan menu as they do with the omni menu would be something they can work on. That said, I absolutely recommend the place.

We came out hungry and the food has very little taste

Chef Xavier Pellicer apparently really hates vegans.
If he just didn't like vegans, he just wouldn't offer a vegan menu.
But he does offer one.

His vegan menu leaves the diner hungry.

But let's start from the beginning.
We heard good things about him (from people who are not vegan), we were happy to find out that he also has vegan options, so for my birthday my partner booked us a place in the evening. Routine industrial design, including IKEA straw lampshades that are now everywhere in the city, from the cheapest to the most expensive, it turns out. But the main thing is the food. We were debating whether to go for a surprise tasting meal at 70 euros, or a first two, main and dessert of choice at 50 euros. In the end we chose 50 euros. It was a mistake.

For the first course she chose white eggplant confit and pumpkin in curry. I took "Homemade Pickled Seasonal Vegetables Salad" and " Broccoli Pakora with Spicy Peanut Sauce".
Sounded promising.
The pumpkin sauce was very mild, but nice - curry nonetheless. The pumpkin was completely tasteless, and they did nothing with it, just cooked – like one that can be given to babies.

The pickled vegetable salad was boring - all the vegetables (onions, turnips, beets, cucumbers, radishes) were pickled in the same way, with vinegar, not brine. They were small and tiny, swimming in a kale-flavored green sauce.

Broccoli Pakora with a spicy sauce – was not pakora at all. Pakora is chunks of raw vegetables coated in a batter of chickpea flour seasoned and deep-fried in oil. What the chef served were lightly oiled burnt broccoli patties, with a sauce that was not spicy in any way. At least there was some garlic in the patties, so they had a little flavor other than the taste of the broccoli.

The only dish that did not disappoint and was the star of the meal was the eggplant - half a small white eggplant on which the other cooked half is mixed with an Indian-style spice seeds mixture. It was extremely tasty, neither corny nor boring.

Another bright spot was the wine we chose without prior acquaintance - Trebbiano Toscano biologico, an unfiltered Italian wine with a strong, surprising, and interesting cognac aroma.

The other part of the menu had only two vegan dishes, one of which was roasted carrots with orange sauce. It does not sound very promising, but even in this case when we ordered we imagined a dish of Israeli chef Shirel Berger, who creates the wonderful carrot “sausage”. We we

Pros: Good wine selection

Cons: Extremely small portions, Tasteless food, Inattentive waiters

Delicious

Everything was absolutely excellent. I never ate a better couliflower cream. It just made me happy. The only downer is the price, but every once in a while is recommended!

Pros: Flavours

Cons: High prices
