Vegan restaurant on the same street as Jazz Cafe and Mama's. The owner, Wulan, has intention to provide a safe and cruelty-free place to eat lunch or dinner in Ubud. Use red rice and fresh vegetables. Food is house-made. Look for the blue restaurant. Has parking. Open Mon-Sat 11:00am-8:00pm.

SOOOOO TASTY - Edit

I came here with one vegan and two non vegetarians and our only topic of the table was how amazing everything tasted! We all tasted from eachother and also had desert and everything had such variety of flavours and was mindblowing from a small gem like this. The best thing we thought was the pancakes (main dish) and the 7 veg thing. It was also really inexpensive and the food didnt take long.

A little corner full of colours and care - Edit

I loved this little place run by Wulan. You can see that everything is done with care and love. The place is colourful and has a relaxed vibe to it. You can seat on the ground on cushions if you want. The food is tasty and filling. The 7 vegetable rice is their speciality and delicious. I will surely come back here and maybe taste one of their desserts. If you are in Ubud don't miss it. Prices below average.

Pros: Cozy place, Relaxed and chilled vibe, Delicious food

Tasty and great value! - Edit

My husband and I have eaten here twice. We have had a good sample of the menu. We would say it is good honest home cooked vegan food which has so much flavour!!!
We have been to many different vegan restaurants in our 10day trip and this is the best of the cheaper options.
Wulan will help you pick.

Pros: cool colourful setting.

Awesome food in Ubud - Edit

In Wulan Vegetarian you get fresh cooked 100% vegan food.
They have dishes with red rice and noodles. You find even sweetpotatoe fries.
We had the "exciting noodles", "peanut heap", "thick sweet corn soup", "ultimate nasi goreng", "carrote cake" and the "vegan pancakes with fruit". Everything was perfect. Also the drinks! Try the AloeVera Chunky!
Everything is really cheap.

Pros: Everything!

Cons: nothing!

Reliably tasty - Edit

I was hard-pressed to find tasty and reasonably priced vegan meals in Ubud and then I found Wulan's.

It's bright and comfortable there with lots of cosy seating. I was pretty happy to sit at one of the low tables at floor level and the cushions were perfect.

The wifi is good so you can while away your time on the net, read a book, or - better still - chat to the friendly owner as your meal is being prepared.

I was amazed at the numerous options available from low-priced entrees, to the diverse mains and several desserts.

I've been there a number of times and my faves are the Savoury Pancakes and the Tofu Veg Soup though I'm also just as happy to dig into the 7 Veg Nasi Campur with its vast spread of tasty veg dishes around a mountain of red rice.

There are plenty of drinks available from a large variety of teas to freshly prepared fruit juices and I've really enjoyed the scrumptious cheap cookies at the counter.

Anyway, if you're looking for a tasty vegan treat check out Wulan's. You can't go wrong.

Expensive; missing flavor - Edit

I ordered the jasmine tea and the nasi campur. Service was really slow, had to wait about 20 minutes for food and drink (I wish at least the tea would have come earlier). Nasi campur is pricy at 49 000. The mock meat was really salty, the rest was pretty flavourless. Would have expected way more. Plus I had two little stones in my food (which can happen, but shouldn't in that price range).
It's not the same high standard and friendliness than it was two years ago (with way cheaper prices back then). Overall I wasn't impressed and wouldn't come again. Ubud has way better choices. 3 stars for it being fully vegan though.

Pros: fully vegan

Cons: expensive, slow service , lacking flavor

retnowulan 20 Jul 2017 - Thank you for coming to the warung and ordering the 7 Veg. Since you were there while Wulan was working alone in the warung, due to her workers' annual holiday, you might have had to wait a little longer than usual. We hope that you will come back and give us a try again so that we can attempt to impress you.
With every price increase, Wulan attempts to increase value by increasing her serving size, offering higher quality ingredients with increased nutritional and organic value.
For the sake of others, since this review, Wulan's business has dropped significantly. The only unfriendly person in the restaurant that day was you. When you write a negative review on your subjective experience, that runs counter to general reviews, on a micro business that serves a dozen customers a day, you literally run the risk of putting them out of business and certainly demoralizes those trying to do their best.
Wulan's food is a labor of love and she does not do it for making a life changing profit. The price is prominently posted on the board at the front of the restaurant. The price of the 7Veg is about 4USD/5AUS. When you sit in a restaurant, remember everything costs money in time and effort. Someone has to go to the store to buy groceries using some form of transportation. There are direct costs. I know you missed it but you got organic red rice cooked and steamed, for 2 hours, over herbs and spices to make it tasty. To cook the rice we use gas, water and electricity to keep it warm after it's been cooked. Red rice is 3-4 times the price of white rice. Now with the rice you got 6 vegetable items. Wulan usually prepares two green leafy vegetables for iron, a firm vegetable for texture, sweet tempe for crunch, salty savory protein for protein content, crispy garlic and onion, a carb like potato, curry sauce, peanut sauce on the green vegetables, a little cucumber marinated in vinegar for "rawness", a drizzle of curry sauce and often a little topper like a asparagus stick. This was served on real plates with matching fork and spoon with your ice tea in a glass with filtered water ice cubes. On top of rent, Banjar fees, bike taxes, electricity, furniture, etc you probably used her complimentary Wifi to write this review that has only served to harm a compassionate, very hard working, sincere mother. Perhaps you can come some Saturday for Wulan's cooking demo and get to know what goes into preparing the food and for trying to make people happy. Peace!

A tasty vegan haven - Edit

This place has it all for me! An all vegan menu that is reasonably priced, tasty cookies, wi-fi, friendly service, comfortable floor cushions to lounge on, and delicious healthy food of course! I ended up coming here a lot during my 2 months in Ubud as it was close to my house and also a very comfortable atmosphere.

I have tried the Nasi Campur and the Spicy Veg-Tempe, the pumpkin soup, banana cake, and pretty much all the cookies.
The Spicy Hottie Veg Tempe stands out, and so does the cookies, especially the chocolate ones and the coconut green tea. I wasn't super into the pumpkin soup, it had too many onions for me....but I am also sensitive to those. The Nasi Campur, kind of the most signature dish you will find in Indonesia to try many things, was also really good, and it's made of 7 items, served with red rice. They use coconut oil to try which is a relief as there are a lot of unhealthy oils used in other places.

A Gem - Edit

This place is definitely not closed! I went there for lunch today and I will be going back again very soon. I ordered the 7 veg bowl and it arrived with even more than I expected. Each item on the plate had it's own unique taste. My favourite was the tempeh (which tasted bacon-ish). The staff were very warm and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing too.

Pros: taste of the food, portion size was perfect, friendly staff members

Cons: motorcycle exhaust from street which can't be help

Came here for dinner. Small, cute place for people who like simple yet tasty home-cooked food. It's not on one of the main streets, so a bit quieter but still well within walkable distance from town center.

Basic main meals - Edit

We ordered 2 different main rice meals. they looked almost the same and with slightly different sauce and maybe a different veg or 2. The vegan pancakes were super gluey. the food overall wasn't bad. I just found it annoying that her little dog was inside this little cage barking the whole time. Not what a vegan wants to see or hear. Very irritating.

Lovely little Vegan Warung - Edit

Wulan is lovely and the passion she puts into her food is only to be admired. The 'exciting noodles' is my favourite which is a rice noodle and veggie soup with various types of mock meats. So delicious, especially when paired with rice to dip in the soup. Also tried the tempeh curry which was okay, definitely better ones elsewhere, the soup is a real winner though.
