Situated within the Nagarjuna Kadampa Meditation Centre. Large lawn seating area, cafe lounge, patio. Staffed by volunteers. Menu includes toasted panini and sandwiches, salads, soups, veggie lasagne, jacket potatoes, cream teas, cakes and scones. Coffee and a selection of teas. Lovely little vegetarian cafe at Thornby Hall, just a village away from where I have moved to.
Read moreI’ve visited twice so far, both times taking my 2 month old (at the time) son and they had no issues with me discreetly breast feeding when he started to make some noise.
They have plenty of outdoor seating and good spaces inside as well for when the weather isn’t great. Both times I went were on week days so was fairly quiet, but I imagine it may get busier on weekends. Going there on a Saturday soon to meet up with someone I haven’t seen for a while so we shall see!
Love how the cakes are all vegan and totally yummy. One of my friends that I went with on my 2nd visit asked for a slice of lemon drizzle to take away towards the end of their opening hours and they gave her everything that was left (probably about 3 servings worth) for the same price as one serving. The vegan toastie is very yummy too, and maybe next time I have lunch there I will get it with some soup. Love that it’s a laid back and simple sort of cafe yet located in a very beautiful property. The volunteers have always been lovely, and I highly recommend the mulled apple for a sweet, warm and aromatic autumn drink. ☺️
Might try booking a meditation and afternoon tea session for my Mum and I at a later date as she sounded interested in giving it a go!

I had the vegan hummus and avocado salad, and then struggled to choose a cake as they were all vegan and looked delicious! Very friendly staff, beautiful setting, welcoming and relaxing.

As far as I know the cafe is open all year round. Check their website for closures. it's attached to the Buddhist retreat and has a very friendly atmosphere. The garden is lovely to sit in and eat, and the food is good overall. the salads are particularly nice, as are the cakes and soups.Although, they do sell out of soups sometimes because the food is all freshly made. I go there quite often and always enjoy it.
