Our first day in Brussels we dined at GORYA. The food was AMAZING. 5/5 stars for the food. However, there's no functioning website at the time of writing and the buffet concept was not explained to us when we sat down, so we were slightly confused as to whether it was a 1 plate or all you can eat deal, as well as the price. In the end we had all you can eat for 14 Euro's per person (though this might have been a temporary deal? We're unsure). Definitely pass through GORYA if you're nearby, again, the food was to die for.

Fidèles clients du Dolma, nous avions hâte de retrouver la délicieuse cuisine du chef Vincent Philippot qui nous avait tant manqué ! Nous avons profité des Happy Hours pour venir tester le buffet Gorya ! Comme nous nous y attendions, nous avons très bien mangé ! La qualité des plats est impeccable. Tout est délicieux et savoureux! C'est une vraie explosion de saveurs de la soupe au dessert! Le service est discret tout en étant correct. L'espace est petit, donc on n'a pas beaucoup de place mais tout est fait pour rendre l'endroit agréable. Lors de notre passage, il faisait froid mais nous étions proches de la porte... Petit bémol : à 19h, il y avait déjà plusieurs plats quasiment vides. Certains ont été remplacés mais pas d'autres alors que nous aurions vraiment aimé goûter à tout...

On nous a donc facturé la formule buffet et le prix de la tarte à part. Ce n'est pas grave mais nous aurions aimé que ça soit plus clairement indiqué... Bref, une très bonne expérience. Nous reviendrons tout en espérant que ces différents points soient améliorés...

Read moreConcernant le froid, oui, nous avons beaucoup réfléchi sur la manière de protéger au mieux l'intérieur. Nous avons même prix contact avec la commune pour une solution avec la porte d'entrée (qui n'est pas transparente et que nous devons donc laisser ouverte sinon les gens pensent que nous sommes fermés, en plus de croire que nous sommes autre chose qu'un restaurant...). Mais il faut un permis d'urbanisme et dépenser encore pas mal d'argent. L'immeuble et le restaurant sont plutôt vieux, avec pas mal de soucis en terme d'isolation, auxquels nous essayons de remédier (joints en mousse autour des cadres de portes, tenture, ...). Nous avons aussi l'intention de continuer à rendre l'intérieur du restaurant encore plus cosi et agréable (dès que nos finances nous le permettront ;-)).
Concernant le prix, effectivement, les desserts sont à part et ne sont pas compris dans la formule de la HYH, ni dans celles habituelles. C'est une formule que nous avons décidé de lancer pour nous faire connaître (car notre restaurant en vaut la peine), et pour faire profiter d'une chouette promo au plus grand nombre. Si nous avions mis les desserts en plus dans la promo, nous serions à perte. Comparé à d'autres restaurants qui font des buffets, nous pensons avoir des prix corrects, même si la vie est chère pour tout le monde avec l'inflation (y compris pour nous)!
Concernant les plats, les légumes vapeurs partent très vite et, il est vrai, qu'il nous en manque parfois. Aussi, ils doivent être réchauffés à la vapeur, et nous ne sommes pas encore assez bien équipés pour cela. Nous y réfléchissons. Par contre, pour les autres plats, en principe, nous veillons à ce qu'ils soient réapprovisionnés. Toutes nos excuses si tel n'a pas été le cas.
Nous vous souhaitons une belle journée/semaine et espérons vous revoir à nouveau bientôt chez GORYA! En venant manger chez GORYA, vous faites le choix de manger sainement, gustativement et de manière respectueuse ! Et si GORYA devenait votre restaurant habituel ! 😀😉😋🤩

Si le buffet n'était plus assez rempli (peut-être parce que c'était la fin du service?), nous aurions dû vous prévenir que nous ne rechargeons plus à partir d'une certaine heure pour éviter le gaspillage. Ou bien nous aurions dû le remplir à nouveau. Toutes nos excuses! Nous sommes sincèrement désolés que vous n'ayez pas eu l'expérience gustative qui nous tient pourtant à cœur d'offrir à nos clients.
Tous nos buffets sont composés et préparés par notre Chef qui est vegan et qui fait attention à ce qu'ils soient équilibrés (protéines, féculents, vitamines, ....). Notamment, hier soir, il y avait (notamment) des protéines dans le Jack Be Little qui était fourré au haché végétal (protéines de soja texturisées) et avec un sauce façon cheddar (qui contenait de la levure nutritionnelle). Mais peut-être n'en avez-vous pas eu (?)
A nouveau, nous sommes vraiment désolés.
Nous espérons que vous reviendrez et que vous pourrez alors apprécier pleinement nos plats!

Great buffet! - Edit
I had the hot and smoky tofu bao with a side of onion bhaji. Really loved the bao, it tasted so fresh, and the tofu had a good texture. The jalapeño sauce could have been even spicier. The onion bhaji were decent, although maybe a bit too heavy for me personally. Thankfully they have many other sides to choose from! I definitely want to come back to try their other baos and sides.

And the price for one plate (14.90€) is great considering you can fill up your plate as much as you want. More places like this please😄

Delicious vegan bao buns - Edit
This is a wonderful vegan version of bao buns! I’ve tried one with spirulina, and it had crispy seitan done to perfection. The taste was so special because of the spirulina, eat ravine and some crushed nuts. I totally recommend.

The place is cozy and has outdoor seating.
The only minus is that an online menu wasn’t updated on the website for a while and the prices were increased by 1eur since then.

We have taken into account the problem of the high chairs and replaced them to "normal" chairs. We only temporarily kept two high chairs while waiting to find new others (or a single big one).
The decoration has also completly changed as you will see ☺ It is not finished yet though.
The quality of our baos, sides, ... stays the same!!! We are even improving, developping, ...

The hot and Smokey bao seemed to lack the jalapeños and general hot kick. Also, come to think of it, it wasn’t particularly Smokey either… The spicy shittake was a lot more flavourful, however. The fries and croquettes were really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (it’s Belgium, would you expect any less)? And it was only €34 Euros in total - including drinks - which I know is insanely expensive compared to in Asia, but is pretty damn good in a European capital city.

There are however jalapenos in the sauce but they are not that strong, indeed. We have decided to keep it this way (i.e. not too hot) because we have another bao that is really spicy ("Spicy shitake") for those who want a real spicy one 😅 Besides, we have changed the name "Hot & Smoky" into "Smokey Smiley", not to mislead our clients and also because we have improved it so as to be more smoky.
Concerning the prices, we try to find a balance between being accessible for our (various) clients and our costs (which are high as our products cost a lot). It's a real challenge!

We got the hot and smoky & spicy shiitake baos, with frites and panisse croquettes. The only miss was the hot and smoky bao; it lacked depth of flavour and the promised "hot" taste didn't come through. There were also no jalapenos in it, even if the menu said it was included. The food was very filling though and the meal deals are good value for money.

I had the frites and the hot tofu bowl and they were both delicious. The frites were perfectly cooked and the bowl was bursting with flavour as it included many fresh and fermented vegetables. Would definitely go back again. And they have gluten-free options too!

Probably the best vegan baos I’ve had! The Chrissy Tofu one was excellent. The tofu was really crispy and the sauces fit In perfectly. The restaurant itself is very hip and has a good vibe. There’s seating both inside and outside as well as takeout. The menu is straightforward and easy to navigate. Definitely worth checking out!
