A real Vegan treat :) - Edit

Love this place so much :) the food is fresh and tasty and the staff warm and friendly. As a vegan it's always great to go to new places and Wombat tricks all the boxes for me. Highly recommend a visit.

Pros: Great food and coffee, Staff , Brand new fully Vegan Cafe

Cons: Too far for a daily visit :( for me

Best Vegan I've had so far, fantastic. - Edit

New Modern interior, very clean.

Had Tofu scramble, good serving size was not left hungry. Tasted great better than my own.

Staff was able to suggest smoothie to go with. Had "high roller" great taste.

Reasonable priced.

Pros: 100% vegan Polite staff

Cons: No dinner yet :p

Brilliant Brunch - Edit

All of our food was delicious. The prices are very reasonable with decent portions. I thoroughly enjoyed the avocado smash with roasted tomatoes, feta and hash browns. The vegan feta is divinely authentic and made locally. My friends also loved the strawberry chia bowl and smokey beans. The drinks were fantastic but although I loved the chai (Rye Chai - Sticky Date on coconut milk) it is much spicier and not to everyone's taste. The turmeric latte and jam donut were also reportedly fantastic.

Vegan haven - Edit

Before this cafe, there really wasn't much of note in the area for vegans.

The Wombat Cafe is fresh, with a lovely clean look and feel. Staff were friendly, and obviously having fun. There is a display cabinet, with items such as spelt croissants, rice paper rolls, wraps and sweets.

We ordered the banana pancakes which were light and tasty, a decent serving with a side of ice cream. Scrambled tofu was delightful.

There is outdoor seating, dogs are welcome. Child friendly and reasonably priced.

Wombat lunch - Edit

Small cafe hidden away from main street Dromana. Although probably not for long considering how good this food is.

I travel for good tofu scramble and this is easily in my top 5 ever eaten in my 23 years vegan. Worth a visit.

Pros: Great vegan food, Clean, Good service

Cons: I'm not in the area often enough to visit, Garden needs some work

Fantastic Cafe - Edit

Wombat Cafe is a new jewel on the Mornington Peninsula, with its mixture of inventive, fresh meals and upbeat, professional service. We had the vegie wrap and the nachos, along with fresh juice and coffee. Everything was outstanding. Although this is a real treat for those living on the Mornington Peninsula, it is in fact a destination i would travel a long way to visit. We will be back!

Pros: Food - delicious and inventive, Service - big smiles all round from all staff, Location - away from the hassle and bustle

Cons: N/A

Great option in Dromana - Edit

We aren't locals but drove specially to Dromana to try it. I had the nachos and wombat smoothie and my partner had the banana pancakes. I thought both were great. The nachos were huge! The menu is a little limited but will be perfect for us as we are only in the area occasionally.

100% plant based goodness - Edit

My gf and I were visiting from Sydney and heard there was a fully vegan cafe so we had to try it. The service was ok, not amazing, they were helpful but forgot one of our dishes and we had to remind them. this was made up when the food arrived. we got the nachos which were nice but lacked some flavour, the pancakes were probably in the top 3 vegan pancakes I've had, couldn't fault them! perfection. I recommend the sweets too, the banana cake was great.
My non vegan sister and her sons also loved it and couldn't even tell that they're food was 100% plant based. Would visit again.

Pros: 100% plant based, good selection of sweets

Early days - Edit

My partner and I visited for the first time this weekend and found the menu a little underwhelming. I chose the pancakes with berries which was quite good and well priced. My partner had the wrap; we both agreed it was too small for the $12 price tag. We dine out frequently and have had similar wraps at another veg cafe on the peninsula for under $10, with more substantial fillings. Cafes in Fitzroy also price similar meals more reasonably.

An easy way to make this better value is by adding some chips or a side of some description. It would also be great to see a Vegan big breakfast option; this would be popular all day.

The cafe looks modern and fresh and the meals were served promptly.

No Customer Service! - Edit

I was really looking forward to coming here as I had just moved to Rosebud and being a vegan was excited a new all vegan cafe was opening up. I'm not sure if my expectations where too high but the experience was a let down. My partner and I walked in and stood around for a few mintues waiting for someone to welcome us and tell us weather we just sit or order at the counter. No one acknowledged us so we just sat down at a table. Waited around 5-7 mintues and still no one had acknowledged us. Saw someone else grab a menu up at the counter so went to grab some and sit back down. At least 3 different staff members walked past us and no one said hello or anything. We realised we must order at the counter but we already felt uncomfortable being there as we felt unwelcome or that they didn't care. It was not busy so they were not flat out. My partner wanted to leave but I was keen to try the food so convinced him to stay. Both ordered a smashed avo, he had the one with feta and myself with corn. Food was tasty. I'm not one who is fussy about food but it wasn't anything exciting. Wasn't worth the uncomfortable experience and 25 mintue wait. I am in no way a picky person when it comes to eating out but I was really let down by this place. As we got up to leave a woman came over to clear the plates and was friendly and asked about the meal and how our day was but unfortunately it was too little too late. She was the only staff member who interacted with us and that was as we were leaving. We have both moved recently from the Thornbury/Preston area so I'm not sure if we were always spoilt with exceptional cafe experience and amazing customer service, but Wombat was so disappointing that I'm not sure I will return. All staff looked like they didn't care about customers and that customer service was not a priority. Infact most times they were just laughing and talking amoungst themselves. I hope the service really picks up as it's a beautiful cafe and a waste to not have a friendly, inviting atmosphere.

Pros: nice decor, clean, comfortable, reasonable prices ( but you get what you pay for)

Cons: no customer service at all

Wombat230 08 Nov 2016 - Hi NatR,
I'm the owner of Wombat and I'm really sorry that you had such a negative experience in our brand new store. We've received an overwhelming amount of support and encouragement since opening two weeks ago and have been far busier than we anticipated. As we're brand new, we're still in the process of streamlining our systems and procedures. Our all vegan team have worked tirelessly to provide the best possible customer service experience to our customers. They choose to work here as they're all passionate about veganism and creating a welcoming environment that appeals to a broad demographic.I'm sorry you felt the food wasn't up to your standard. We're not aiming for five star. We're aiming for relaxed, home style food that tastes great. I'm sorry for the delay in your meals arrival. We are doing the absolute best we can. We've poured our heart and soul into Wombat and are really proud of what we've managed to achieve in such a short amount of time ?✌️️
