Very yummy!

This was the second time I visited the Schuetzengarten, because the owner has changed... They have changed the vegan options on their menu since I've been there the first time. There are still just 2 vegan main courses und 2-3 starters, about 5 vegetarian main courses and 4-6 starters. I had a mixed salad with italian dressing, which was vegan - I asked the waiter, and as main course "Tofu-Spiessli im Teig" (guess it's called coated tofu-spit) on mediterranean veggies, balsamico sauce and fresh roasted potatos. It was really, really good! Way better than what I had on my first visit. They usually have 2 daily menues, one with meat and one vegetarian (not vegan). I'm sure I'll visit the Schuetzengarten soon again, I just wish they would have more vegan options on their menu...

Wirtshaus Schutzengarten, Lucerne

The only reason I am giving this place 3 out of 5 is that it isn't 100% veggie. If it was 100% veggie I'd rate it much higher. I inadvertently stumbled in about an hour before the 11:30 full menu started. All they officially offer at that time is croissants plus tea, coffee and other drinks. I asked if the croissant was vegan veggie. I thought that was it for me and I was readying myself to move on while the staff were discussing something in German. Next thing I knew they had sorted out what they could offer and before I knew it I had a feast in front of me. I can't guarantee they will be able to do this every time but on this occaision at least I was lucky and the were able to help me out. I'll always be baised to 100% veggie places. However if I was in town with a meat eating friend who refused to eat veggie then this place would be a great compromise venue.

Pros: Helpful staff, Vegan veggie friendly

Cons: Not 100% veggie
