Fantastic local Hakka and Atayal food! - Edit
I really loved visiting this local vegetarian restaurant on the main road of Sanyi. I arrived after the lunch serving time, but the friendly staff member still offered to cook me a delicious Hakka rice noodle dish called 'bantiao' and gave me some lovely tea. I would love to go back to try their stir-fried wild vegetables and mushrooms. The food is a mix of Hakka and Indigenous Atayal cuisine, so it is a special experience. If you are in Sanyi, do pay this place a visit.

Cons: no English menu, on the busy noisy main road, call ahead in case the opening hours differ
