Shocking

I have never been to a Whole Foods like this. The produce selection was abysmal and many of the standard vegan fare was nowhere to be found.

A Life Saver in Hilton Head!

Without a single vegan eatery, Hilton Head can be a real challenge for the visitor (unless you have access to a kitchen). Along with the usual assortment of groceries, this WF has a small but nice selection of veg & vegan prepared foods for eat-in or take-out. I had a wonderful vegan split pea soup and a truly delicious Crispy Dragon Roll from the sushi counter.

Pros: Terrific selection of groceries and fresh foods, Good selection of veg & vegan prepared foods , Nice areas for indoor & outdoor eating

Reliable option

During our 3-day trip to Hilton Head, I think we came to Whole Foods about 3 times for lunch/brunch. I got the TTLA (Tempeh, Tomato, Lettuce and Avocado) sandwich one day. Unfortunately, the server forgot the Avocado and I didn't realize it until we got back to our hotel, so watch that! They did not have vegan chicken salad or egg salad. They may have been out or they don't get those, because it is a small store. Coffee was excellent and a vegan donut was crazy good. Great option if you want to try to save a little money while traveling and eating out every day!

Pros: Reliable, Good value, Lots of vegan options

Cons: Didn't have as many vegan options as larger stores

The Island Is Complete

I am a long-time Whole Foods customer and new resident to the island. It is so lovely to have them here. I love the special touches and twists custom to the "flavor" of our local community. And of course, as a vegan, it's a diamond in the ruff for grocery shopping. If you're budget conscious, favor the produce and bulk departments and 365 brand. If you love to splurge on the good stuff without cooking yourself, their prepared foods department is huge proportionate to the medium store size. Add to that special events like "pups on the patio" and their willingness to order anything they don't currently have, and we've got a winner.

Pros: fresh, vegan, cruelty-free products, mid-island location, friendly team members
