options. options for the vegan eaters.

Had to get a quick lunch in whole foods. Im here for new years eve and all the vegan restaurants I wanted to go to go has a weird schedule, ie. Being not open. I ended up going with the build your tacos in their deli section. For their tacos you could get jackfruit or sweet potatoes. Or you could get just rice, beans, or even sauteed veggies.
My husband got the veggie pizza that had been posted in here already!
First of all. I got a steal. This meal was $6. The lady give a good helping of everything I asked for. I was paying my moneys worth. My picture is posted. I only ate 2 tacos because it was soooo much FOOD.

If you dont want mexican. They had vegan sushi prepared with forbidden rice, teriyaki tofu rice bowl and alot of hot food stations you can get your food by the pound.

This place had options. Thats what vegans need. Thank you whole foods. For real; it feels weird going to a grocery store for lunch but it was easy at whole foods.

Pros: lots of vegan options

Cons: a bit pricey but you know youre eating good.

Better selection than other WF

This WF is so much better than the one on Carlilse. Their produce section is much larger! I love that they have vegan pizza in the self serve pizza section. They also have a great selection of vegan desserts including mousse parfaits and cake. They carry the amazing Beyond Burger (you can find them near the bakery in a special case). They have a great bath and body section. They carry a lot of the Sandia Soap company soaps and a nice selection of mineral nail polishes.

Pros: vegan pizza, vegan desserts

Cons: none

happy store

I like the produce selection-although I'd be happier if it was ALL organic OR at least grouped together (organic and non-organic).

It does have good selections and options

Pros: vegan options

For a few select items.....

Whole Foods has alot of inorganic "conventional" food and they charge alot for everything they sell. Still - there are advantages. They have a broad variety in the produce department and you can get some slightly outside the norm organic produce like kale and chard. The 365 brand has decent prices on organic beans, rice and other staples. Their coffee is organic, fair trade and very good tasting. One funny thing I notice is that when you shop at the WF in Santa Fe there are many areas set up to taste test all sorts of delicious looking new fangled foods. At the Academy store they throw some plain, dry Whole Food brand Tortilla chips, or cheese puffs in the taste test areas and usually those are empty! The store frequently drops brands with no warning so don't get too excited if you see your favorite kefir brand or vegee soup boullion cubes. They will likely disappear suddenly never to appear again. The bulk herb section can be out of stock for long periods. Still for a quick stop to pick up a few items - Whole Foods can come in handy and I'd rather be with than without!

Pros: Organic staples at reasonable prices, Variety in produce department, Good coffee

Cons: Mostly overly expensive, Out of stock or discontinued items, Cheap snack offerings

Great place to Shop

They have a wide variety of choices for the vegan shopper. Many of the store brand products are vegan as well. It provides non-vegan choices for those who have family members that have not made the leap into better health. This particular location is always clean and has a wonderful selection in the the produe dept. The dry goods and frozen food dept also have a great selection of vegan products.
