CLOSED: Whole Earth Restaurant

There is a large menu of vegetarian selections. The taste is okay, but I don't remember what I had ordered.

They mark fried tofu with fish sauce as vegetarian "Because some Vegetarians like fish sauce". Will not return!

This place seems as though it may have been good at one time; the name suggests actual vision, which is no longer apparent in the sort of dingy keep of the place, the unsmiling hosts, and, most importantly, the quality of the food. I wish it was better! Sadly however, I can not recommend Whole Earth.

Handy location right in the heart of the Old Quarter tourist area, but the food is fairly average fare. The few dishes we tried on our two visits (some mock meat dishes, some plain veggie meals) weren't particularly fantastic, but maybe we just didn't pick right. OK for a cheap feed, but there are better value and better tasting options within strolling/cyclo distance.

This place was marketing itself on being vegetarian-friendly but its nothing special and seemed to have mostly the usual veggie selection. I wouldn't seek this place out, most restaurants in Hanoi have a similar range of the usual stuff. The veggie spring rolls were tasty, as they tend to be in most places. Its reasonably priced and in a central location but dont go out of your way for it. We also felt the staff kept hanging around us and wouldnt leave us alone creating a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Nothing inspiring.
Taste and atmosphere are both so so.
