Burger nah, sweets yah!

Good vegan food and the beach close by! What do you want more? Their vegan chicken was very tasty! But I thought there was too much rice and too less ‘meat’.
Another time I had a burger, but didn’t really like the patty which is very smokey and strangely close too meat (like cartilage). Personal preference I guess.
Love the sweets here tho! The banana chocolate pie was beyond delicious! 😋
I got a latte for take out and really liked the eco friendly foldable paper cup.

beautiful location steps from the beach

I liked the location, which is a bus ride from Zushi station at Morito Kaigan, as well as the building/deck. The lemonade and lemon rosemary muffin were nice! The muffin reminded me of the salted lemon muffin from Ovgo Bakers in Tokyo (not sure if they still have that item), in the best way!

Sadly. the cheeseburger was not edible for me. The bun was ok but just seemed like a regular commercial bun. The cheese was like cheap American cheese. The flavor and texture of the patty, I just could not manage. It was also quite pricey, so not being able to eat the main at all was a bit unfortunate because I felt it would be too crazy pricewise to keep ordering stuff to find something I liked.

I would come again and order soup or something else and see if I could make a meal that way, because the mains are all burgers.

Pros: great location, nice deck for outdoor seating, good drink/muffin

Cons: could not manage the cheeseburger

Vegan cafe by the beach

In Japan it’s rare to have vegan options by the beach, let alone a vegan cafe, so this place can be very helpful. That being said, I used to love this place till a couple of years ago, their food was very tasty, but I went back this summer and I must say that the food quality has dropped a lot, plus it became much more expensive.

Pros: All vegan

Chili cheese fries

The spicy cheese fries consist of fries, with beans, melted cheese and chili on top which all in all is filling. Did have the vegan banan bread with almond as well, but that felt a bit dry.

WOW

This place is hard to get to if you don’t have a car… but just might be worth it!! The burger was so meaty and delicious and we loved the dessert too. We really enjoyed our meal here.

Pros: A+ food and ambience

Cons: The 30-min crowded bus ride back to Zushi station

Amazing vegan burgers.

Near the famous Morito Kaigan beach area, all their menu are vegan and can enjoy everything without any worries.
And the burgers are so delicious I’m seriously considering driving here once in a while just to indulge on their burger heaven.

Pros: Delicious. , All vegan

Fantastic place with fabulous food!

This really well-decorated/designed restaurant is easy to find.
There is public parking next to the restaurant.
It is a minute on foot from Morita Beach.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and they spoke English.
We had the Mexican burger, O% chicken fillet plate, and mushroom BBQ plate and could not decide which one was the best. They were all so different and really, really good!
Cannot wait to go back!

Pros: Amazing food!, Friendly staff, Cool location

(Probably) The best burger in Kanagawa

Whitley by Toriba Coffee, hereafter Whitley, is a seaside-ish restaurant specialising in vegan burgers and can be reached by a 10-minute bus ride from Zushi-Hayama station. Located by the bridge, this cozy eatery is a perfect place to spend the afternoon after a walk on the beach or just to eat a good juicy vegan burger.

I ordered the Hayama burger that came with salad and fries and shared a portion of the chicken combo (fried soy meat + fries + a dollop of vegan mayo). You can ask for sriracha hot sauce if you like your meal a bit spicy. The salad and fries were ok, and the latter could be fried a bit better since they were limp. The chicken combo also came with limp fries, and unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan of the vegan mayo. The fried chicken itself was well seasoned, crispy, and not too greasy, with a texture that reminds me of chicken thighs.

The burger, however, is a different story. Unlike the squishy buns I usually encounter in Japan (such as from MOS burger), the one in Whitley has a good consistency. Moreover, the burger patty was *chef kiss*; it was juicy and caramelised nicely. I actually prefer this patty compared to the impossible burger.

Price-wise, it is not too expensive either - you paid about the same for a mediocre plant-based burger from MOS burger.

If you live or frequently commute around the Zushi/Hayama area, this place is worth the detour.

Vegan food near the shore!

Good flavour, super friendly staff, clean store, and The sweets and drinks are slightly expensive in my opinion, but when you take the location into account, it makes more sense. I think the burgers are all fairly priced.

Pros: Good variety of vegan goods for all appetites, Friendly workers, Nice atmosphere

Cons: A bit far from public transport, Slightly expensive
