Jay restaurant with a la carte ordering. Run by a family. No English menu - only pictures. All dishes are local & vegan and may include noodles, rice dishes, tempeh and curries. Also has ice cream and mayonnaise. Please note that some ice cream contains dairy and is not vegan. Limited English from the friendly owner. Pick some pictures on the menu to order. Sells some vegan products also. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-11:00pm.

Ich hatte den Salat mit Tempeh und die frittierten Frühlingsrollen.
Read moreDie Frühlingsrollen waren riesig und lecker. Der Salat war ebenfalls groß, allerdings hatte ich mehr Tempeh und weniger Salat erwartet. Der Tempeh war sehr knusprig und eher trocken. Vielleicht sind die Fake-Meat Gerichte etwas interessanter als der Salat mit Tempeh.
Alles wurde frisch zubereitet, was einige Wartezeit zur Folge hatte.

Great place to eat from a non murderous kitchen - Edit
Good food I enjoyed the soup which I like to have as a Christian. Just sends me to the bathroom less. They had a little more mock meat it then I would like but as a Buddhist I'll just meditate on meat eaters with that and hopefully get rid of a few of them. Time waits for no man and global isn't stopping unless people get conscious and change our environment. There is no saving Antarctica or the permafrost be realistic! Veganism is a stop on the way to taking the apple out of the garden of Eden and finishing eating and becoming a light being! Help me out and go that way. Keep a Holy Trinity on the stove to add some noodles and Tofu to! If you ain't killed a chicken and disemboweled a chicken and plucked it's feathers you have no right to eat one. Quit living in the land of Saran! I'm not talking about the apocalypse right now but its not so far away.

What can I add that's not already been said? The food is fabulous. The people are charming, kind and wonderful. Excellent value for money. I really enjoyed my visit there! It's not a fancy place but down to earth local food and people.

Unique, tasty dishes - Edit
Simple and small restaurant, but don’t underestimate the flavours here! We had the bang kuan and laab with some rice which were so delicious and clearly made fresh to order. The portion sizes were generous - we definitely ate our fill. The staff were lovely too. Docked one star only for a somewhat rough around the edges storefront.

Best Vegan Larb in Lao 😍 - Edit
Absolutely delicious vegan food! The owner is very sweet and answered my questions with translation quite easily. The food came quickly and I even got a very friendly dinner guest 😻 Loved the owners response, to smile with love at the cat rather than try to kick her out. Genuinely kind ❤️

They only offer à la carte menu, but there are plenty of options at affordable prices.
The first time I came here, I tried the Larp Lao, and it was delicious!
One downside of this place is the lack of air conditioning, considering how hot Vientiane Capital can get.
Make sure you come and give the dining experience here a try!

The owner is really sweet and I could did get what I ordered even though certain things I said good lost in (Google) translation.
Read moreThe printed menu had English labeling and pictures so it was easy to know what I would get.
Unfortunately she was out of rice and that then lead to some communication issues.
Eventually I received what I ordered but I had to wait quite a long time before I got my food (ordered even the sun was still up, started eating when it was dark).
Probably not a problem that you'll run into but if you do, make sure both you and the owner understand each other 😉
Also: "a little bit" spicy is plenty 🌶️

A must visit in Vientiane! - Edit
A really sweet restaurant in town with such friendly, happy and welcoming staff. The owner is so sweet and used translator to try to talk to me. She asked if I wanted to go to a ceremony that they invite foreign travellers to for a “baci” blessing with her that evening, unfortunately I was leaving on a bus to Pakse that night but it was so kind and if I ever come back to Vientiane I will definitely go to see her. Apart from that the food was also delicious! It never ceases to amaze me how Lao people have such a talent of making such a simple dish as vegetable fried rice so so rich in flavour without the use of egg etc. I have tried many times and failed. I ordered the vegetable fried rice with tofu which came with the usual refreshing cucumber slices and she also brought me a bowl of vegetable broth to go with it - think this was an added extra and not part of the meal. It was the perfect portion size, perhaps a little bigger than other rice dishes I have ordered so far in Lao. They also have a really sweet cat that will come and give you a cuddle. Thank you again for your kindness and delicious food!

Great cozy Jain vegan food place. No English menu and limited English from the lovely owner. You can pick some pictures and get surprised like we did!
