Amazing Vegan Plate!

We love their market plate where you can pick from any number of vegetable dishes and have them combined into one plate. It is not planned or plain, but rather each vegetable is cooked in a clean, yet delicious way to make for a surprisingly good meal! Every time I eat it I leave feeling full, but powered And wonderful

Pros: Market plate, ., .

Cons: None, ., .

Excellent

Excellent food for vegans and their non-vegan friends. Everyone will be happy. I was looking for a restaurant that could accommodate both myself and my non-vegan friends. This is the place! They have excellent protein sources, including tofu, as an appetizer as well as a side with your meal. I purchased the market plate, which allows you to choose four different vegetables. I also ordered the soy hotdogs which were delicious with sauerkraut mustard and ketchup.

Pros: Excellent food, Reasonably priced, Nice atmosphere

Cons: None

Tons of Fresh Vegetable Dishes

This place was an absolute gem. We typically only eat all vegan restaurants when visiting NYC, but had omnivore guests this trip so we branched out to have more diverse options. I happened to find Westville searching for veg options nearby and so glad I did. We would definitely eat here again. There are over a a dozen “market fresh” vegetable options that you can order as a plate (choice of 4) or as additional side items. There is also a house artichoke quinoa burger with homemade coconut mayo. I had the market plate with the vegan version of the beets, brussel sprouts, tahini cauliflower, and sweet potato fries and then added a quinoa burger patty on the side with the coconut mayo for dipping. It was all very fresh and delicious. After dinner, I had the “health tea” made with fresh oranges, lemon, cinnamon, ginger, and sage (no honey) and it was amazing.

Casual restaurant with vegan options; omnis will probably like it

Westville is a chain a restaurants with locations throughout NYC. Fortunately, however, it does not seem to have the "chain restaurant" vibe. It is by no means a fast-food or primarily takeout place: Westville is waiter-served, with non-plastic plates and forks. The venue is clean and attractive, with clean restrooms (not a given for eateries in this part of town). Although the tables are not set up for large families, this place does seem to a good place to have a relaxed meal with a some friends.

Westville has evidently been around NYC for about 20 years. However, since I usually go to vegan or vegetarian restaurants, or at least places listed on Happy Cow, I never noticed Westville before--but seeing it added to Happy Cow prompted me to give it a try. Now that I've done so, I see that they do have a bunch of vegan options, and what I ate was pretty good--so in the future I would definitely consider this place when eating with omni friends.

This location of Westville is on Ninth Avenue, which is not a pleasant avenue to walk along (filled with cars, noisy, grimy, lacks a "neighborhood" feel) and there are not a lot of nice vegan-oriented restaurants in this area (other than places that are largely geared for takeout or that are fast-food like). I mention this because if you look on the Happy Cow maps, it might seem that there are loads of places nearby--but only a few of them are decent, sit-down restaurants suitable for vegans, and if you are actually in the area, you might not want to walk that far before settling on a place to eat. In contrast, the other Westville locations listed on Happy Cow seem to have more competition by actual vegan restaurants.
