Nice views, poor food

We visited the Western Isles Hotel for dinner one evening. It's a nice place, with large windows offering a panoramic vista of the harbour and village. But, sadly, the quality of food did not match that of the views. The vegan burger was simply uninspired, as were the accompanying chips & coleslaw. My meat eating companions were equally unimpressed with their choices. Moreover, service was unfriendly and curt. I wouldn't return or recommend it.

Pros: Nice views, A few vegan options

Cons: Poor food quality, Poor service, Expensive for what it is

Best vegan breakfast ever

Came for one night as a stop gap after camping. Didn't expect much for breakfast but we were utterly amazed at the breakfast buffet. All items clearly marked:
Beans, mushrooms, sausages, butternut squash and spinach, tattie scones, veggie haggis, tomato.

Plus plant based milks and Flora.

We will be back for longer!

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, Vegan choices, Views over Tobermory Bay

Western Isles Hotel

We used to love going here before it was sold, their is sadly very few vegan options now. There is no chef in the kitchen so they are reliant on brakes brothers type meals that can’t be modified or altered for vegans.
They have a hot madras, vegan curry, a beyond burger and chips if you are there on a specific day left over mushroom risotto from their lunch special menu.
I would definitely not recommend the left over risotto it is like wallpaper paste and tastes how I would imagine wallpaper paste would taste if you threw some canned mushrooms on it!

Pros: The view

Cons: The food is awful, The hotel manager is really rude., There are dogs running loose everywhere.

Very tasty vegan dishes on the menu, stunning view!

We had dinner here two evenings.
Very tasty vegan dishes on the menu, most wines are also vegan.

We also had breakfast there, there is a wide vegan offering at the buffet.
Very friendly staff, nice chat with the waitress and the lady at the reception.
And the view is stunning, we dined at a table overlooking the beautiful Tobermory Bay.
Highly recommended!

Pros: Very tasty vegan dishes on the menu,, Cosy atmosphere, Friendly staff

Cons: None, None, None

Amazing views, lovely food and service

Several clearly marked vegan options for starters, mains and desserts. The food is nicely thought out and cooked. Lovely service, and the view over Tobermory harbour from the conservatory and balcony are gorgeous.

Lovely views, decent food

I pre-booked this before we arrived on Mull, being unsure as to the amount of vegan options available, and looking online they had a few.
The hotel is up a steep hill overlooking Tobermory and the bay and, although we were there when it was dark, the views would be amazing from one of the tables in the big windows.
The only starter that appeared to be vegan, but I didn't have one anyway, was a cauliflower steak with tahini sauce. There were 2 mains, a beetroot burger, and gnocchi with asparagus and walnuts. I had the gnocchi with a side of wilted greens, my OH had the same but with sweet potato fries. All lovely but a bit pricey at £16 for the gnocchi and £3.50 for a small pot of veg!
For dessert there was a choice of icecream/sorbet, apple taste tatin or cranachan. We opted for the latter, as I'm a big fan; it was nice enough but not cranachan: summer fruits, not raspberries; no whisky; only a sprinkle of oats. It was made with coconut cream which was lovely...£6 for that.
Overall not bad, friendly staff and a nice place.

Pros: Lovely views over the harbour , Reasonable amount of choice, Spacious room with modern decor and friendly staff

Cons: Quite pricey , Dogs allowed - might be a problem for some
