Vegetarian Indian restaurant in the Ruwi area of Muscat. Not all staff understand the concept of avoiding dairy, so vegans should stick to ordering well known South Indian vegan dishes, such as dosa, vada and uttahpam. The dosa and chaat are only available at breakfast (7:30 am until ?) but definitely not available from 12:00 pm). Coffee and tea can be made without milk (ask for black coffee and black tea), but seem to always come pre-sweetened. Very inexpensive prices. Address is approximate - no street numbers. It is on the same side of the street as the Mutrah Hotel, and maybe two blocks toward the market, away from Mutrah High Street. Very small, with a hand-written sign about being pure-veg. Open Mon-Sun 7:30am-11:00pm.

Amazing food. - Edit
This is a simple but extremely lovely place to eat. All the food is made fresh to order and is very flavoursome. We went back everyday during our short trip to Muscat.

Hello,
Read moreNearby the Mutrah hotel you can find this restaurant. It is a small simple place where you can order lots of things.
We ate the vegetable noodles and the cheese padal sale. The people are friendly and tell you what is spicy or what the possibilities are.
Pros: Every dish is vegetarian, Cheap, Friendly
Cons: Only water to drink, Poor infrastructure

Lecker - Edit
Freundlich Bedienung.

Best vada I've ever had - Edit
I went there several times during a stay at a close by hotel.
Read moreThe vada was the best I've ever eaten, and the dosa was good.
One night we got some north indian dishes including a cashew-based curry, veg biryani, and a manchurian dish (south indian is only available at breakfast). They were delicious, but I wasn't 100% convinced that the curry dish was dairy-free, and it was a bit of a struggle to get the request across. It may have been, but it did seem suspiciously creamy.
The staff were lovely, and twice they brought out extra food for free, asking us to try new dishes. Be warned vegans, these extras were not vegan - be prepared to either eat a little ghee, or forgo the free extras and have the awkwardness of turning down a gift - we did turn them down, and they were gracious about it.
Prices are very cheap - each meal for two persons was at or less than 3 OR (around $9 Australian dollars).
The vibe is local - small seating area, most people getting in and out quickly, most other customers were Indian men.
Pros: Great breakfast dishes, Very cheap, friendly staff
Cons: A little difficult to communicate vegan, Parking looks difficult, but not impossible
