Great vegan food, loads of options! - Edit
This place has a superb separate vegan menu with loads of choices. Every Friday they even have deals on where you can get "fish" and chips, and a beer/wine/soft drink, for $30! I also had a boysenberry pave for dessert, and it was so good!! I would definitely recommend this place and come again 😊🩷

At last -vegan options at the Waterfront - Edit
The Waterfront is one of the most popular places in Kapiti. Right on the beach -it is busy and a fav for the locals and visitors from Wellington. Full marks to them for providing a plant-based menu, and one with more than one option for most courses.
Read moreHaving said that I wasn't massively excited about my dishes but that is probably more about my taste buds. The pate was fine though I am not a fan of oil so didn't really like the pool of oil in the middle of it but then, others might have loved that. It was rich so best to share.
The brunch was ok except for the tofu. Pretty obvious the chef doesn't know how to cook tofu - it was so watery and the texture was more like a puree. To make it worse, it tasted like a spoon of curry powder had been stirred through it. Next time I will ask for no tofu, despite my love of it, because it was that bad. Everything else in the brunch plate was fine though not a big portion.
Broccolini was good.
I love the views of the island the beach from my table and the staff were nice.
This would not be my go to if I was in a big city with more vegan cafes, but for Kapiti, it is great to have a place you can go to with non vegans and have some options that are not the bog standard hummus and felafel fall backs. Good on them for having a plant-based menu.
Pros: more than one vegan option per course, 2 vegan desserts!, great views
Cons: tofu was not the best
