Great food - Edit

We tried a bunch of the dishes and desserts. All were great. Very flavorful, and the desserts were to die for In particular I loved the "donut muffins". They looked like they had a caramel coating, but when you bite in you got this delicious coffee flavor.

Delicious Food and Great Service - Edit

SW Michigan is very lucky to have Water and Wheat Cafe and Bakery! Anyone passing exit 41 on I-94 should definitely stop. This is a small cafe located inside Arclight Brewing Company. We drove over to try this place when we first heard about it. The food was so good that we have already been back. The baked goods are amazing (I recommend the poptarts) while the hearty/savory options are delicious. My party had the biscuits and gravy, veggie sandwich, and chickpea salad. Everything was top-notch. The food tastes like it is made from scratch. I have eaten in vegan restaurants in several larger cities both in US and Europe, and can say, without a doubt, that Water and Wheat has surpassed some of those and is one of the best.

Pros: All vegan, homemade food, Friendly staff

Watervliet is LUCKY - Edit

Can you believe it, Watervliet has a vegan cafe! With Chef Josh no less! Every time I go there, I try to eat a bit of everything they have. Chef Josh is developing some creative ideas in this cafe!

Not to mention, the fantastic sour beers at Arclight. I never ever found beers I liked, but this beer is fantastic.

Pros: Delicious VEGAN food, Very creative and interesting, Both healthy and indulgent items

Outstanding! Well Worth the Drive. - Edit

If you're reading this, you may be wondering whether it's worth the drive out from Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, etc., to eat at Water & Wheat. It totally is! We've eaten at top vegan restaurants throughout the U.S. and beyond, and Chef Josh's food compares with the best. He's incredibly original and cooks with true flair, and both his baked goods (e.g., those incredible cherry "pop tarts") and savories (empanadas, mushroom tarts, etc.) are excellent.

Try it, you won't be sorry.

Yum! - Edit

Low key cafe inside Arclight Brewery. Sweet and savory pastry options, everything made from scratch. Comfortable, casual and the food was delicious! Coffee was great. Perfect spot for coffee and a quick bite. Really great place!

Pros: everything is vegan, everything tastes incredible
