There’s a separate vegan menu that you have to ask for, but there’s lots on it! I shared the guac and chips with my family, then had the avocado and meat-free chicken, and ancho mushroom tacos. Definitely didn’t taste authentically Mexican but I enjoyed it, and would definitely order them again.
Read moreThe service wasn’t good though. The man showing us to our table (who I later found out was the manager) was very nonchalant and could learn to greet with a smile. Our server was forgetful and slow. The whole place could do with a lick of paint and a good clean.
12.5% ‘discretionary’ service charge automatically added and can’t be removed when you pay using the QR code on the table (odd that you pay using a QR code but can’t order that way - somewhere with lots of small plates that come out as and when and needing to request extra tortilla chips seems like the perfect place to have QR ordering). So you have to wait forever for attention to ask for a bill without this service charge. Given that we didn’t think the service was worth a tip, we waited to have it removed.
Pros: Good value for money, Lots of vegan options
Cons: Poor service, Dirty and tired restaurant

The decor is stunning as you approach the restaurant. There is a wide selection of vegan options and the carbon impact is clearly marked for each dish. The flavours are amazing and the waiting staff were so friendly and helpful. Our server Ora was so nice!

As a Coloradan temporarily living abroad, I always miss good tacos. The options here are pretty tasty and semi-authentic. The guacamole is good, nothing crazy but some of the best I’ve had in London.

The black bean and cheese quesadilla was super yummy. They just added a no meat chicken taco to the menu. They were also good. The guacamole was a great topping for these tacos. They even offer vegan desserts. I chose the chocolate ice cream. It was good but had a few ice chunks.

Had the plantain and mushroom tacos, which were probably not authentic but still pretty good. The plantain tacos were a bit too sweet for my taste, so if you’re not into that I would skip those. Service was really quick. All in all a good option for a quick bite.

Wahaca - 3 Stars - Edit
Large location in Waterloo. The food was super average and definitely didn't taste like authentic Mexican food, which I wasn't expecting in Europe anyway. I've tried a few locations and have had similar lackluster experiences.

New to my latest visit, they now offer a vegan/vegetarian menu. It’s super easy to order with options ranging from starters, mains, little plates, sides & desserts.

Sustainability is huge for Wahaca. They use 100% biodegradable straws, the UKs first carbon neutral restaurant group and they recycle/compost food waste.

Nice range of vegan options and friendly staff. More choice on the special menu than I was expecting. Tasty sweet potato burrito. Horchata in the drinks menu mentioned it was dairy free (rice/almond milk). Yum!
