Food was so good. It was spicy and well prepared. I had the Pong special. Everything was great. I ordered ginger beer too, it was also really good.

Top-tier Ital spot in the city - Edit
Well worth the trek for the food. Only thing that didn’t hit for me was the black eyed pea soup, but I think that’s just because I was expecting Jamaican Ital soup or Trini corn soup. I never plan ahead but next time I’ll try the provisions (forget how much notice you have to call ahead to order them).

What I come to expect of Caribbean Cuisine🤤 - Edit
So we decided to take the hour drive to explore this gem of a place. Though by the time we arrived we were limited in terms of choices, there were no disappointments. The owners are so lovely - great vibrations all round.
Read more🌱The food was so flavourful. I had quinoa, chickpea stew, mac & cheese, and pumpkin. My friend had the peas stew, rice & peas, mac & cheese, soya stew. Though he's not vegan he thoroughly FULLjoyed his. Our meals were served with a green salad & fried plantain.
🌱 We also opted for the tropical juice - so tasty & refreshing
As first time visitors & surprisingly so, we received dessert - sugar free plantain balls topped with coconut shreds. They were so fluffy & yummy. I couldn't have enough & wish I bought some extras. I also received soup & porridge!
After such an amazing experience, I will definitely recommend & return.
Thank you so much for such warm hospitality & feeding us such nutrient packed & flavourFULL meals.

Laid back place. A little out of the way, but definitely worth coming to. Cash only, but they have an ATM inside.
Read moreI loved the Pong's Special/Chef's Special. It was the largest portion I've ever been given at a restaurant that I can think of. Everything was delicious, but the avocado and plantain could've been more ripe.
The service was friendly, and the food was ready quickly, too. The owner(?) was kind, and she even gave us a complimentary cake to go.

Read moreA handful of times, on my lunch break I took the 20 min drive from my work place to V's Caribbean, only to find the restaurant to be closed with no signage about the closure (nothing about how long it will be closed etc). One of the time this happened, a gentleman walking by tells me it's been closed for last 2 days.
Very disappointing. Happened too many times and also happened one evening around 4pm. So I haven't been back there since.
Pros: Reasonable prices , Great tasting food, Good portion size
Cons: Street parking not always available , Inconsistent hours of operation

We both had a full "meal" plate: bbq tofu, mac n cheese, veggies, salad, so much avocado, plantains, rice and beans. It was about a 15 minute wait, but well worth it. They brought us both out free mandazis(donuts) fresh out of the fryer while we were waiting. There was plenty of seating when we were there at 6. Most people came for take-out.

I love restaurants like this. Delicious homecooked foods. The owners were incredibly helpful in figuring out there choose your own adventure menu. Only con is that lack of a/c in the summer but definitely worth repeat visits. :)
