Such a beautiful lil cafe. Stumbled across vital cafe by accident a couple months back and had the jackfruit mezze platter - I’ve not had jackfruit before and it was incredibly delicious. My boyfriend who is not vegan had the jackfruit wrap and adored it. We’ve come back a couple times now and always had amazing food. Such a good vibe 💚💚 Such a good price and they offer student discount too 🌹

I had the breakfast burrito and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. My boyfriend who is not vegan had the sausage and cheese melt and he was surprised at how much he actually enjoyed the food. The food was cheap compared to most cafes in Leeds however there was a small wait time , which is understandable as the food is made to order 🌿🧡

Lovely new vegan cafe in Headingley. - Edit
We’ve been wanting to pay a visit to this new cafe since it opened and as we were passing we popped in for brunch/lunch. We chatted to one of the staff whilst we waited who told us how things had been going since they opened in September 2018 and it was good to hear things had been picking up recently. We had a breakfast burrito and a falafel wrap and both were packed full of filling and delicious. Definitely looking forward to going back to try more of their food.

This place is well-reviewed and I was looking forward to it. I went alone and wanted something quick during my lunch hour. For 2 starters, I waited 45 minutes. What the menu also doesn't tell you is that their jackfruit is fresh, unprocessed chunks of jackfruit. Raw jackfruit is an extremely acquired taste as it is related to durian fruit, the smelly, sulfuric food popular in Asia. Western vegans are familiar with "pulled", processed jackfruit which doesn't have the unusual flavour. The chunks of jackfruit were honestly inedible, and there was hardly any jerk sauce on it to mitigate it. The sweet potatoes were nice enough, although not remotely spicy as advertised. Overall, a waste of my time and money.

Went in a for a late Saturday lunch with a friend. Staff working there were very nice but the service was incredibly slow. My own drink showed up after a few minutes but my friend's took 20. It also took over an hour for the food to come out, and again our plates came out at different times. The food itself was ok but nothing incredible - I had the vegan breakfast and my friend had the jackfruit wrap (which she didn't particularly like). All in all, I love the idea of a vegan cafe in Headingley but the execution needs a bit of work.

This place could be great, but the service is terrible and the wait times are dreadful. The lowest rating I could give was two stars because it's all vegan, but I would've rather given one. Such a shame.

I’m not a vegan but coming to Vital isn’t just a quick coffee, it’s an educational journey, the staff are friendly and in the know, you feel at home here and are always sure to leave knowing something new, the decor is inspiring, and the whole entire place is a breathe of fresh air.

So impressed with the food on offer. The owner has carefully sourced fantastic ingredients and put together a great menu. The cheese toastie is sooooo goey and delicious!
