Delicious NYC deli-style toasties - Edit
Got a delicious vegan “steak” sandwich there with pickles, coleslaw, mustard, lettuce and tomato. Proper NYC deli style with loads of filling and fried on the outside. Delicious! I also picked up my vegan Christmas “turkey”, “honey” glazed “ham” and peppercorn gravy which I can’t wait to try. Very friendly staff too. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Vegan comforts at its best that anybody with tastebuds will enjoy!

Vegan fastfood - Edit
My husband loves vegan fast food, so Pretend was a must while we were in Dublin, especially because it was close to our hotel.
Read moreOn our first two visits we had the steak sandwich, the loaded BBQ fries and the loaded chive and garlic aioli fries. While the taste itself was good, everything was too greasy, too heavy, and very difficult to eat. However, we really wanted to taste the desserts, too, so we bought the snickers toffee creme and the baileys almond Guinness cake a couple of days later. Both tasted heavenly - again, very heavy and thick, but the taste was perfect.
The desserts are in a huge freezer and they heat them up for you if you like, but we took them with us still frozen and thus we were able to eat them a few hours later in our hotel room, which was very nice.
Service was friendly, but there is no seating at all, so you stand there and wait somewhat awkwardly while everything is prepared for you, which takes some time.
So, if you are really into this kind of food, this is the place for you, but for anyone else (like me), maybe not so much. You might want to stick to the desserts in that case!

Cool Vegan Corner - Edit
I really liked the Salad with tofu steaks and vegan bacon, there are plenty of options and you can create your salads … burgers and sandwiches are very nice… I went there with my non vegan friend Federico and he also liked. The cappuccino was very good. I’ll give Extra few point to this shop because everything is 100% recyclable… and sustainable. I will go there often

Lovely chips and cake pot - Edit
We had the masala chips which were delicious and took away a snickers cake pot which was amazing , very creamy and fresh ( loads of flavour Choices and ice-cream available) We ate a fish burger in there and whilst it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t very fishy at all and was a bit too moist. We did actually get a brownie too to take away but haven’t eaten this yet! A few high stools inside and a few tables outside but the road was a bit noisy!

Big portions, but food tasted bland - Edit
Portions are huge and more than enough, which is fair for the price. Have a lot of options but honestly the food is pretty bland. I ate there twice now and neither time had me convinced.

We expected more - Edit
We ordered the Vish n Chips and the vish burger to eat. Both were okay but vegan fish was tasteless. I think they are some better spots in Dublin to eat.

Wonderful little vegan spot right in the middle of Dublin - Edit
We're at the end of a two week trip and have hit a lot of vegan places. Pretend is right at the top. It is awesome. The food is yummy and comforting (think reubens, ham and cheese croissants etc) and the staff are lovely. Highly recommended.

Delicious - Edit
Finally got to try the reinvention of Vish Shop and it didn't disappoint! I had the ham and cheese croissant, flat white and banana cake - all yum, in particular the croissant, it was so delicious, the melted cheese was unreal 🤤 staff were so lovely too. Picture doesn't do it justice.

Not a “fish” substitute, but super tasty - Edit
I got there a bit late and the staff was lovely and still allowed me to order. I got the smoked fish and chips and while I’ve had “fishier” substitutes, this was very nice!

Tasty, but I hoped for more - Edit
First let me start off by stating that the staff are friendly and the food is good, but it isn't worth the hype. I've had better vegan fish and chips. The vegan fish has some type of breading and seaweed in it. It would have been nice to have the "fish" made with tofu or heart of palms to give it more of a realistic "meaty" profile.
Read moreWith that being said, the food is good, but I had high expectations from reading reviews.
My boyfriend had the original Vish and chips. I also had the original Vish and chips topped with kimchi (they were out of the smoked Vish).

Inedible - Edit
I ordered the Vish and Chips. The Vish was soggy and the taste was really not nice. The chips were nothing special. The ice cream was too sickly sweet. Disappointing, would not return.

Worth a try! - Edit
I was expecting the same type of vegan fish I get in the USA, pre-frozen product. I was surprised to learn the "fish" is made from cassava, and it was enjoyably unique! Great fries too.

Nice Vish bar, ideal for takeaway. - Edit
Had never had cassava before and it works well in the batter. Nice thick tartare sauce too. Seating is a few stools and a shelf/table so probably best to takeaway, especially if you're in a group. All packaging biodegradable, wooden cutlery available. Friendly staff.
