Very nice food

This is a lovely quaint restaurant not very far from the center of town, easily reachable by Grab. The food is delicious, service is quick and prices are slightly above normal Vietnamese fare but totally worth it. And it accepts credit cards unlike what it says in the Happy Cow blurb. #Veganuary

Pros: Pineapple rice, Jackfruit in clay pot, Rice rolls

Delicious and lovely owner!

Very delicious food - the fresh spring rolls were so good and the curry nice also. The tofu and mushroom was very good too. Basically everything. The owner was very nice and spoke tiny bit of English - he was super helpful. All in all, I think it’s a stretch to call it upmarket but it’s really great place. #Veganuary

nostalgic favourite

The setting, the family owners and the food are all a real experience. The food is Hue style, one of the imperial kings of Vietnam was vegetarian and so Vietnamese vegan recipes flourished making dishes for the king. The jackfruit in clay pot is smoky, sticky and amazing, the rice paper rolls are soft on the outside with crunchy fried jicama on the outside.

The pineapple fried rice is fruity and delicious and the tofu dishes are all tasty. We have brought many friends here over the years, and keep coming back.

Pros: All vegan, Nostalgic, Family run

Very good!

The black iced coffee and the spring rolls (fried) were really good (5 Stars), the coconut was just perfectly ripe.
The main dishes were quite good but not 5 stars for my sense. Could get 5 stars in overall, although I think the 'perfect something' wasn't there.
Also great service!

loved it!

The food was SOOO GOOD! I had really bad memories from the food when I wasn’t vegan yet. The staff was also very helpful and they kept the restaurant opened until 10 on the dot and helped me get a taxi!

Great restaurant. Clean, welcoming and delicious food.

Asking around for a good veggie place and a random guy said 'hop on my motorbike and I'll show you a great place.' Leap of faith was a great success. Really lovely Chay restaurant by devotees of Kuan Yin, the goddess of compassion. Clean place and food. Delicious menu. Nice decor. A place for a special meal.

As good as ever

Kind of surprised to see that the last review for this place was years ago...We lived in HCMC about three years ago and used to come here all the time. We were delighted to find it still here (not so with our other, much cheaper, favourite: Phap Hoa. So sad to see that's gone! Anyone know what happened to it? Their food was AMAZING!). Anyway, the food here is still incredibly good. The owner is lovely, and the whole atmosphere is really warm and welcoming. The reviewer that complained about the parking must be talking about somewhere else. There's a lovely man who will watch your bike for you and you can tip him if you like, but there's never been any 'extortion' going on when we've been there (and seriously? "Extorting" 10,000 VND? Blimey, time to check your privilege, stranger). A great restaurant with sensationally good food. The name is now Nha Hang Chay Viet An, though (the signage has changed), but it's exactly the same place with the same menu.

Pros: Phenomenal food, Lovely atmosphere; nice people working here, 100% vegan

Home Away From Home

This place is lovely - the staff are so friendly and attentive and the food is excellent. My tops is the pho, which I personally think is one of the best in the city. The prices are a little high (65k for pho, 85-90k for a dish), but for a eat-in place like this, it's par for the course. Totally recommend!

delicious, well presented dishes, very welcoming

The owner and waiter make you feel at home, speak English and are very friendly and helpful. The pineapple rice was sweet with a nice fruity aroma. I would definitely go back there and try some more dishes.

TIB

Update I stopped going here in 2015. The food becoming more average and the dodgy parking guy trying to extort 10,000vnd from me for the FREE parking. There are much much better places to eat.

The food at Tib is good. Can be a bit on the pricy side when compared with other Vego places in the city, which sell food on par with them.

Excellent Vegetarian Food

I have been here a couple times and had a great experience. Anything I have ordered was really good, but the the best things were the grilled eggplant and pineapple rice. You will not go wrong with anything you order. Also the service was incredible and the staff is very nice. It is worth a visit in Saigon, its more expensive than local vegetarian restaurants but not an expensive place

Pros: Quality of Food, Service, English

Very Good

I thought the food was really good here. The wait staff was very friendly, even helped me to practice my vietnamese, and helpful even though they really didn't speak a lot of English. We really enjoyed our meal at TIB!

Ok if you only order fresh spring rolls

This was our second day in Saigon, so still unsure what the food was like in restaurants, was meant to be... It seems like a lot use a lot of sugar to make caramel sauce. We ordered the clay pot tofu, which was ok at first but got very sickening. It was made in a caramel and a lot of grounded black pepper. My partner ordered the pineapple rice, which was too odd, bathing in sugar. I felt a bit ill after the meal, like I had a sugar rush and felt lethargic all day long, promised myself I shall never eat clay pot tofu ever again! The only good point about it was the starter, which was lettuce roll (delicious and fresh) and fresh spring rolls with tofu, herbs and shredded fresh raw veggies inside. So do not miss them whenever you go to a vietnamese restaurant, that's one of the things they can't put too much sugar in and it's often refreshing, healthy and delicious!

Pros: nice spring rolls, nice hot vietnamese coffee, nice staff

Cons: use of msg's, too much sugar in dishes and juices

Probably the best you'll do in Saigon

Typical greasy vegetarian food with plenty of mock meats. No problems, but nothing good either. I live, and travel often, in Southeast Asia. It would be nice to find some healthy restaurants for once. They're pretty few and far between.

Pros: Nice staff

Cons: Unhealthy food

Worth a visit - best to book in advance by phone

Well-run. Great interior design. Relaxing place. Perfect for entertaining business friends. Run by the brother of the singer-songwriter Trinh Cong Son whose songs have been highly popular in Vietnam since the late 50's. Trinh Cong Son died on 2001. He wrote some of the first anti-war songs in South Viet Nam. Joan Baez compared Trinh Cong Son to Bob Dylan. Posthumous winner of the 2004 World Peace Music Award.
