Delicious food and awesome staff - Edit
We went here for the first time today and I am so happy to have a fully vegan restaurant here in SLC. The food was amazing, but our favorite part was the friendliness of the staff. We will absolutely go back! #Veganuary

The most amazing Vegan food! - Edit
I am obsessed with the mushroom stroganoff! It is so creamy and delicious and comes with crispy garlic bread. Everything I have tried here has been absolutely amazing, from the tigers and sandwiches, to the desserts and drinks. Definitely recommend!

Twice in one day - Edit
Stopped by for lunch and grabbed the Cubano to go. It was so good, and slightly messy, I was licking sauce off my fingers after it was done and scooping up ingredient droppings from the bottom of the box. Met up with a couple of non-vegan co-workers for dinner. They asked go there for dinner after hearing about my experience. Both enjoyed the dishes they got and would happily return when back in town.

very very good - Edit
If you’re looking to get absolutely STUFFED with good vegan food - this is the place. Fun diner environment with all plant-based food made in house. We had the vertical tacos and ian mackaye burger. The tacos were decent and the side salad was unreasonably good. The burger SLAPPED - it was soooo tasty, the mac and cheese on it was the best vegan mac i’ve ever had. We also had some tender tigers and the carrot cake - both of which were incredible. Left full of yummy food and very happy.

I’m so happy that I chose this place to introduce family members to Vegan food. It was very tasty with NYC dinner vibe. The food gets 5 stars. We felt a bit rushed by the waiter but it was a weekend so maybe they had to.

amazing food and people - Edit
i was very pleased with my experience here. i have some unique food allergies so it’s hard to find food out at restaurants, but i gave this place a shot anyway. the staff was so nice and gave me their ingredient binder to look through and find things i could eat. i went with the avalanche breakfast with gluten free pancakes and tempeh bacon. it was really good and A LOT of food, i ate about half and took the other half to go and ordered some more food to go as well. my server, taylor, was very helpful and seemed to genuinely care about my allergies, which is rare. i would definitely go back again if i’m ever in the salt lake area.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to vertical and I was just reminded how delicious their gravy is. Anything in the menu with the gravy you will not be disappointed. Soo soo yummy.

A really good diner! - Edit
This is a real diner, with a global twist. And it is all plant-based/vegan. The service was good. We had a spicy Magical Wok with brown rice & tofu, a Tony Hawk sandwich, a side of mac & cheese, the Thai Potato Pizza, tiramisu, and a french toast. I loved the mac & cheese & the french toast. The tiramisu was good but heavy. The Thai Potato Pizza unfortunately may have been overcooked & was dry so we did not get a taste of its sauce & would probably eliminate that in the future. The restaurant has its own parking.

So fun sitting in a diner setting again. I felt like I was at Denny's except I could order anything on the menu! Can't wait to come back.

A Divey Delight! - Edit
We had such a fun time at the Vertical Diner! They have a lot of variety, breakfast, apps, sandwiches, salads as well as beer and wine and a cocktail menu.
Read moreOur group tried the Buffalo tigers (like Buffalo wings), breakfast avalanche with house made sausage —which was amazing— and chocolate chips, a Jamaican meal with jerk seitan that was to die for, a breakfast burrito, the Philly cheese steak with a side of Mac and cheese. We would highly recommend all! And they were all big helpings for very reasonable prices.
Our favorite part of Vertical was the staff. Our server, Jerrica, was such a sweet and positive prescence and she made our day. I’d we find ourselves in SLC (or Portland, OR at their other location) we will be back!

Better than expected - Edit
We went in with low expectations just in case, but everything we got was really tasty. The biscuits & gravy were really good, we also got the avalanche breakfast plate and the dude cakes. The coffee was good too!

Such a delicious breakfast, except the french toast - Edit
I loved the breakfast burrito. The french toast lacked everything. Be careful about what you get I guess.

Biscuits & Gravy - Edit
Went for the pancakes but ended up detouring to the Reuben. The star of the menu is the biscuits and gravy — that gravy is sooo good! Hearty portions of comfort food. The chocolate walnut brownie was very good. Would go back anytime I am in Salt Lake and need a junk food fix.

Vegan Diner - Edit
We've been enjoying Vertical for a hot minute (since they were at their old location and Sages was still around *RIP.) When my mom made the transition to a vegan lifestyle this was the first place I took her. Always hits home for the cozy diner vibe. If expecting more than an American style diner, look elsewhere.

Quite Disappointing :( - Edit
I came in with the highest of expectations, considering the phenomenal reviews of the restaurant. The inside had a strange stale smell, and the decor was that of a slightly run town denny’s.
Read moreI ordered the Joaquin Phoenix, partially because of the phenomenal name, partially because it was highly rated.
The sandwich was probably a 5.5/10. It had probably 4 or 5 ingredients and was incredibly dry. It was a very very basic item. Whereas something like “Proper Burger” down the road has complex, fine tuned flavors, this was more or less an elementary school cafe sandwich making subway look advanced. It alright, but not necessarily worth the price or the hype for what you get, and the slightly depressing atmosphere. I really wish I could say better things, but that was my experience.
Perhaps other things on the menu could have been better, but there is still the atmosphere of the place to consider.

Vegan American Diner - Edit
Our first Vegan American Diner, we only missed typical milkshakes. One day we had breakfast, the Avalanche, and the other day lunch, american diner and mushroom stroganoff. Everything was great and tasteful. The service was nice and friendly the whole time.

Favorite Vegan Eats in Town - Edit
Vertical Diner is hands down my go to when wanting to eat out, I even take non-veg friends and they enjoy it too! The service is always great, food comes out quick, and the atmosphere is pretty spot on. You can either dine inside or enjoy the small patio they have, it's also one of the few vegan places that have a bar in it as well. If you're coming to SLC you have to try this place out!

Hit or miss - Edit
Everyone in Salt Lake City recommended this place to me, but it’s honestly really underwhelming. Super cute location, but the food is either really good or reeeeeally mediocre. I think they only spice they use is salt. Also if it matters to you they treat their workers awfully.

This is one of the best places I have ever eaten. The amount of choices I could pick being vegan and gluten free was mind blowing. If you are in Salt Lake... this place is a must!
