Late Night Tacos, Customization Required - Edit
I have been to Velvet Taco Buckhead quite a few times and it is a local favorite of many of my friends in family. The restaurant is completely counter service with a super, relaxed vibe. The menu is concise and features various fusion-style, creative tacos. As popular as Velvet Taco is, I can find it to be not as easily vegan friendly as advertised.

1. Fried Paneer - which cannot be made vegan due to the main "protein" being cheese
2. Beer Battered Cauliflower - which requires a swap from a flour tortilla to corn tortilla, removal of the quest blanco, and removal of the candied pepitas (all of which include dairy)
3. Nashville Hot Tofu - which requires a swap from a flour tortilla to a corn tortilla and removal of ranch crema. This was the most vegan-friendly taco, but when I went tofu was unavailable.
There is also a weekly taco feature and on my visit it was a spicy falafel taco that only required a substitution to corn tortillas. I wish this would be added to the standard menu as there was previously a falafel taco and this is the most easily customizable.
A big issue I have with the customized tacos is you lose some important sauce elements on both the beer battered cauliflower and Nashville hot tofu. I would love to see Velvet Taco add a vegan taco as is - which would be a big improvement to my experience.
In terms of sides, the most friendly is guacamole and chips - which can be done as a 2-taco combo.
The biggest pro of Velvet Taco is their extremely extended restaurant hours. Where many places close at 8-10pm, Velvet Taco is open nightly to 12am and on Fridays/Saturdays, extends to 3am. That makes it a great spot for a late night post-flight meal or travel dinner.
Pros: Late Night Hours, Quick Service
Cons: All Tacos Need Customization, Not always great vegan substitutions

Velvet Taco - Edit
Just had Velvet Taco for lunch and it was fine. The food would be better if the restaurant considered offering vegan sauces and cheeses to replace those removed from the vegetarian tacos. The tofu taco was a bit greasy but had a nice crunch. The cauliflower taco had a hint of sweetness, which I didn't like but this might have been well-balanced with a vegan version of the ranch sauced omitted. It's a nice option to have overall, but it could be so much better.

The lady who took my order didn't know this and I only caught this while I was reading reviews while waiting for my food. Thankfully this was corrected. The flour tortilla has butter in it.

We were psyched for some Mexican food and ordered several of the Nashville Hot Tofu tacos (vegan style) and a Falafel. The tofu was deep fried, and the serving tray was runny with oil. Not much flavor to them. The Falafel was better, but nothing special. That much very oily food with not much in the way of accompanying vegetables left us uncomfortable and a bit disappointed.

Delicious vegan tacos - Edit
Order the falafel taco and Nashville hot tofu taco. Both are so flavorful. The corn and hibiscus tortillas are vegan but the flour tortilla is not. Omit the dairy sauce on the Nashville hot tofu taco. The atmosphere is really fun and comfortable too.

The falafel tacos are soo Good and Is made in-house! I wish they had more sauces that are vegan friendly. That’s my only thing with the menu. The staff is very nice too!

Delish with fun atmosphere - Edit
We were so excited when we saw this place opening in Buckhead! Love the veg options and vegan accommodations. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of vegan diet. Flour tortillas are not vegan but corn are and they have lettuce wraps too. Everything we had was scrumptious with a fun, edgy atmosphere.
