An institution

I mean obviously everyone knows this place. I’ve been going there for 17 years and it’s still the best burger. Half size is HUGE and my BFF always gets the one covered in cheese sauce lol. Are you kidding me, how is it so good?!

Best vegan burger I've had in my life!

Last ate here over 10 yrs ago and I still dream of their Ab Fab burger. Just wish they opened on weekends...

Cons: Only open for lunch weekdays

Delicious food with home-like setting

When you first walk in it feels like you have walked into someone's house. The decor is retro, funky and each table is unique. The same person who seated us also took our order and prepared the food. There was just one person working here. However don't let that put you off. The service was quick and the food was delicious. It's extremely cosy eating here and I would highly recommend it to someone who wants to try something different than your regular dining experience. Only downside was the plastic straw and the cling film used to hold the wrap together - side note: if you're up for trying something new, try the avocado salad wrap, it has a few ingredients that will surprise you but it works so well. The burger we ordered was also huge so I would recommend getting the 1/2 burger unless you are starving and can eat a horse!

Pros: Cosy, home-like feel, Nice vibe, Friendly owner/chef/waiter

Cons: Disposable plastic used

Nourishing and tasty cruelty free food. No pretence.

Quirky small cafe with simple, fresh and tasty food that won't break the bank. Nice owner.

Food good, but expensive

I thought the food was good here but 18 Australian dollars for a veggie burger seems quite high to me. The service was very friendly.

Still the best

Haven’t been here for 30 years and hasn’t changed a bit. And I mean not one thing that I can tell. Generous serves. You will not need to eat for the rest of the day.

Pros: Great place, Has not changed in 30 years. And that is great, Big serves so watch out.

Yum

Nice little hideout in the city, renewed my faith in falafel wraps. Even my fussy preschooler was happy!

Huge, creative burgers!

The cafe is hidden up some stairs, but is easy to spot, and the Happy Cow sticker on the door is instantly reassuring. The menu is on a pinboard, and there are so many yummy-sounding options I changed my mind every few seconds!

The huge burgers came on lovely dark wholemeal buns, with heaps of salad and the perfect amount and combination of sauces. Each had a distinct flavour too. The milkshakes were fantastic too.

Pros: Did I mention the burgers are huge? , Great range of burger and wrap options, Good value

Vego

Came to this well publicised on HC eatery for lunch. I had a spicy mushroom burger served in a brown yeah roll. On a pate, with shredded carrots, tomatoes, mixed green and red lettuce topped with a chilli relish. $18 worth every dollar the best in Australia!
Washed down with a carob smoothie $3:50 small glass.
The decor was too my liking, unfortunately my two friends went elsewhere. Is a bit hippyish and dark for them. Lotsa momentos on the walls of the chef's travels over his years to far flung places, and pics of stars ofvyears ago.

tasty healthy inexpensive

Had a carrot juice and 'half burger here. Very filling, very good. $15 only!

Also to enjoy is the eclectic style of the cafe including much of the owner's own art work.

Highly recommended...got to pay attention when you're approaching as the doorway to the cafe is tiny. Cafe is located on first floor and does not have street frontage.

Pros: flava flav , price, atmosphere

Nice little place with its own character

The cafe is a little bit hidden, has its own hippie style and vibe. There are burgers, soups, wraps, soy smoothies. We had veggie burgers which were nice and healthy, didn't have much oil on them at all. Frankly speaking, the price ($17) seemed excesive to me for such simple food. It would be great if vegan food like this was more affordable for everyone. Otherwise, cool little cafe. Don't think I will go there again, but might if I were to stay in Adelaide longer.

Pros: fresh healthy food, generous portions, all vegan

Cons: burgers are too expensive

Wonderful! Delicious!!

Love this Adelaide institution for its consistently delicious burgers, salads & shakes. Huge portions. Really delicious, fresh, healthy, always great food. The kind efficient owner never has misses - every meal is reliably yum & I walk out so satisfied. I'm gluten-free as well as vegan; they've excellent gf options & are happy to modify for special diets. Great place to take friends or have a special lunch or even a business lunch.

Pros: Delicious, fresh, generous portions, flavourful, Kind & efficient chef-owner; calming atmosphere, Soul food - really filling & hits the spot

Cons: None, None, None

Very good.

What a cozy fully vegan little restaurant. With huge burgers portions and I mean massive, that's why they have an option of half burger on the menu. When sitting there you almost feel like you're visiting friends or families house, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very casual but in a nice relaxed way.

Fav lunch place in Adelaide

Not too cheap, but a nice & cosy atmosphere in the place and always extremely filling. I'm a big fan of their soups & the Mexican burger.

Expensive

On my most recent visit here, the price for a full burger had increased to $17, or $11 for half a burger. I've flown to Melbourne on Tiger for the price of two of these burgers. I'd rather have the trip to Melbourne. Shame really - this place used to be one of my favourites, but the last time I ate here I just felt ripped off.

Pros: Great burgers, Cosy

Cons: My wages don't rise as quickly as the burger price, During lunch peak, cannot get service, Service can at times be surly

Fantastic Vegan Burgers

Their burgers are the best in Adelaide, their customer service isn't always that great (but sometimes it is!), and their place is small.

I think it's impressive that one guy, by himself, is able to act as the entire restaurant staff. Did I mention that he makes awesome vegan burgers?

Pros: Awesome burgers, Quirky atmosphere

Cons: Kind of cramped

Awesome huge burgers

Definitely a wonderful spot for vegans. But really, if you like delicious food then who cares if there's no meat or dairy options! I had a Bali Burger which featured a satay-like sauce plus a soy choc-banana shake (at $4 was a bargain). The burgers are HUGE. At $16, it's a justifiable price but it easily be shared. They also do half burgers for $10. Tons of varieties of burger for ever taste, plus other menu items as well. Cool, eclectic atmosphere and very friendly staff. A winner! Yay Adelaide

This place is an institution - best burgers ever!

this place has been here for a million years, because it's so freaking delicious and inexpensive! I love the bread for the buns, a dark, soft, rye - you only need a half burger to fill you up! And the burgers are made from scratch, as is the cheeses sauce on the Mexican burger... only open for lunch on weekdays, but we go here as often as we can, totally sets the benchmark for vegan burgers as far as we're concerned!

Closed During Holidays

The place was closed during Xmas holidays. We went to nearby Joy Discovery (ayla's cafe) and enjoyed their vegan food.

Memories of teen vegan youth

This place has not changed in 10 years. The food is amazing and well priced. The Mexican burger is the same delicious awesomeness, the cheesy sauce is epic and the burger is covered in it! It's still the same funky decor but the place is tiny and therefore not the most comfortable, if going in a group getting a table may be hit and miss.
