Friendly place with good food! - Edit
Ended up taking away the vegetable sandwich and rosemary potatoes as I was short on time but the staff prepared the food quickly and made sure I wouldn’t miss my train.
Read moreThe sandwich was huge and very filling. The potatoes were also beautifully soft and seasoned.
The huge advantage for me was the fact they brew their own kombucha in house and make their pickles. The strawberry earl gray kombucha was delicious!
Pros: Great food , Friendly staff (also speak English), Kombucha!

HUGE burger prepared expertly. Delicious Buddha Bowl. Unbelievable, large, moist banana walnut muffins. I may need to revisit Kyoto just to buy these muffins. Great, friendly staff and owners. Well worth your time to drop in here!

Great vegan food & friendly staff - Edit
All the food and drinks we had were great. The burger is huge but with a bit of squeezing it can be eaten without cutlery. 😉 The chili beans sandwich was delicious too.
Read moreWe also had the soup of the day, a very tasty broccoli soup. The rosemary potatoes were great as well.
I can also highly recommend their homemade lemon soda!
Pros: Delicious food, English speaking staff

Tiny gem - Edit
This is a very small venue down one flight of stairs on a small street - look out for the sign outside so you don’t miss it. Everything is vegan and while the menu is small (though options change regularly), the food is clearly put together with a lot of care and passion. We tried the fried potatoes (a variety of potato types) and the burger - it was huge, and not just in terms of Japan sizes. #Veganuary

Fab staff, fab falafel, long wait times. - Edit
We popped into vegginy with a group of 4 and were seated immediately at the bar for lunch service, something that doesn’t happen all too often in Kyoto! Awesome.
Read moreHowever, dining here was a 2 hour experience as once we were sat down, it took the staff over an hour to prepare our meals. We ordered 2 falafel sandwiches, the burger and the nacho rice dish.
To give the staff some credit, the place and kitchen are very small, and they are preparing excellent quality food. Unfortunately for myself and my partner we ordered the burger and nacho rice dish which were really lacking in flavour, and the burger was quite difficult to eat, spilling out everywhere as soon as I crushed it down (think classic vegan veggie patty with nothing dense to hold it together). Eating the food though did however make us feel pretty excellent - real quality ingredients. Unfortunately I can’t comment on the falafel personally but this place gets 5 stars because apparently it was to die for - our meat eating friends that we were with said that it was the best food they’d had all trip, and that they’d never known falafels could be so moist and delicious. They concluded it was well worth the wait.
Tl;dr: beautiful staff, very long wait time to get your food, get the falafel sandwich. ❤️
Pros: Falafel sandwich, Beautifully decorated interior, Super delightful and friendly staff
Cons: Very long wait for food , Vegan burger, Hibiscus lemonade

Look out for the little cactus and succulent box and go down the flight of stairs next to it to enter 😉
Read moreThe food is nothing short of amazing, fresh and delicious. We had the falafel sandwich with potatoes, hot homemade lemonade and the gelato for dessert 😋 this would certainly be a go-to of mine if I lived in Kyoto!

Friendly vegan café - Edit
At Vegginy , the main dishes are a vegan burger, sandwich of the day and a Buddha bowl with the option of soup or roasted potatoes on the side. The main dish portions are super generous and everything is fresh and homemade. Other things on the menu are smoothies, kombucha, cocktails, beer, vegan muffins and gelato—something for everyone. The café is small with six stools at the counter and three tables, so come early or just get lucky grabbing a seat. It’s popular, deservedly so.
Read moreThe friendly chef and server speak English and there’s an English menu.
The entrance is next to the Vine Oak building. Look for the sign on the street level and take the stairs one flight down.

We enjoyed the food and the good company in this small, nicely decorated restaurant just south of the Kyoto Imperial palace. The roasted rosemary potatoes were tender and the burger and Korean tofu bbq sandwiches were generous and packed with beautiful fresh vegetables. Be sure to get a muffin to go!

Good sandwich slow service - Edit
The banh-mi sandwich was very flavorful, we ordered it with local potatoes, ingredients are organic and staff is friendly. However, the service was very slow, when we arrived, there was only one other table occupied and they were already eating, our order took almost 40 minutes. We didn’t see this mentioned in other comments, so hopefully it was just a coincidence😄

Amazing Homemade Food - Edit
The food here is outstanding. This was one of the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had. The patty was homemade from scratch, and so, so tasty. I also tried a bite of tofu Ban Minh, which was equally delicious. The soup was very flavorful and warming on the chilly, spring day that I visited. Couldn’t resist getting a freshly baked muffin for dessert and enjoyed every bite.
