Food is great, service not so much - Edit

Popped in for lunch on a Saturday. I went for the pizza and my wife went for the sausage roll and chips. The food was excellent and I was very impressed that a lot of it was homemade. I also got the salted caramel cake to takeaway and that was delicious.

There was three (maybe four) young girls serving. We sat ourselves as we couldn't see any of them after standing their for a few minutes, and then it took them a while to come over with menus. Service was quite slow throughout. My wife asked for tomato sauce when asked, when our food was put down. The server clearly forgot and my wife had to ask another half way through her meal. We did get an apology by the second server at the end of the meal about this.

At one point a customer asked for the wifi code, he was told to take a seat and someone would come over with it. 15 mins later he was still waiting. He was also in a rush and waited so long for his food he had to cancel it and leave before eating. We saw the wifi code on the specials board on our way out, but it could have been displayed in a more prominent area seeing as they use it as a selling point.

I was very impressed to find a veggie/vegan restaurant in Bury, so although the service was slow and the decor was quite outdated I would probably go back because the food was really good.

Pros: Homemade food, Cake, Not a lot of other vegan places in town

Cons: Slow service, Slow staff, Outdated decor

Very Bury. - Edit

Situated in the heart of the bustling streets of Bury, Veggie Rae is a quaint little café, just up some stairs off one of the main areas of town. Welcoming staff and homely environment, with a lovely menu; plenty of vegan options, and freshly baked sweet treats.

I ordered the vegan BLT, completed by the homemade ‘facon’ seitan slice. Although I’m not usually one for overly processed and flavoured things, I had to give this a go! The sandwich was tasty, the seitan had a pretty convincing flavour too (although, artificial tasting flavours aren’t my thing). I'm very glad I gave it a try, I'm all for trying (vegan) things!

The general feel of the place was a little tired I’m sorry to say, we had to go ‘behind the scenes’ to visit the publically accessible bathroom, and the entrance felt a little beat up. This wouldn’t put me off visiting again however; it was a pleasant venue for sure. Be sure to support your local vegan friendly cafés, we need this to be the norm!

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly and welcoming staff, Central location

Cons: Not accessible to all - Stairs, Tired and a bit beat up feel

Great Vegan Food in a Lovely Cafe - Edit

Really nice atmosphere in this new addition to Bury town centre, and great food too. We had the Blackbean Burger with not-bacon and vegan cheese, which was huge, and the vegan hotdog. Both were delicious.

So pleased to see somewhere with so many vegan options, makes a great chance to be spoilt for choice. We will be back.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Inexpensive, Relaxed atmosphere

Cons: None

Hidden Away! - Edit

I was really excited to discover a Vegan/Veggie cafe on my doorstep and was keen to check it out. Veggie Rae is in the upstairs flat above another shop, making it difficult to spot if you don't know what you're looking for!
The vegan carrot cake was absolutely gorgeous and is reason alone to visit again!
There was a mix up with my latte as originally I was served one with milk rather than soy, however, I would like to commend the staff on having the guts to come out and admit their mistake.

Pros: Excellent food

Cons: Very quiet (probably due to it being hard to find), mix up with order
