Huge menu! - Edit
We've been a few times and it's always fun to try different items from their huge selection. We didn't love the texture of the bbq ribs (very chewy and a little gummy?) But have loved everything else!

Great food and service - Edit
Great starters. The dumplings and scallion pancakes were both awesome. We all enjoyed our entrees too, and the cake variety is so tasty. I think my favorite was the pumpkin cheesecake, but both the coconut and carrot cake were worth getting as well! The folks working there were so friendly. I live far away but hope to get back here at some point.

He used to be the owner of the Teaneck one, but was sick and went back taiwan to recover and heal for a while .
Read moreI did not expect that he will reopen again . I’m truly happy and know that he’s well and happy to finally see him in person because he used to be always busy when he was at the Teaneck store, never even get the chance to see or talk to him😄we had a long long chat😄

Good! - Edit
We liked most of the food we got. However a lot of things were prepared a bit different than I’d expect. The fried rice just didn’t really have that fried rice umami flavor.

Awesome restaurant! - Edit
This is the newest location of a small chain of vegan Asian restaurants in NJ. It’s smaller than the other ones but the food is definitely still amazing. They have a wide variety of options at reasonable prices. I have eaten in their dining room once and gotten take out twice, and liked everything I’ve ordered so far. The owners are very nice people and have supported local animal rights organizations as well which is awesome. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area!

Small place, high quality - Edit
Our friends brought us here; they come once or twice a week. Owners are a wife and husband and so very sweet. We were attracted by all the vegan cakes in the case, such as coconut, tea, chocolate, and many more. Don't miss the wonton soup, and the green beans are so delicious. If I lived closer, I would eat my way through the huge menu. It's located in a shopping center with lots of parking. I will update my review when I eat here again since I forgot to take pictures of everything we ate. They have a lot of specials too. Not sure if they are BYOB. They do a ton of takeout.

Fantastic vegan Chinese and more - Edit
Disclosure that I've only eaten here once, but I was pleasantly surprised by how great it was. So many options to choose from, I will definitely go back to try more. Entire menu is vegan and is mostly Chinese, but there are other Asian Caribbean style options as well. I had the boom boom chicken and it was fantastic. Wife had orange beef and also delicious. We got carrot cake to go and it was the best part. Since going vegan, I've found all the options at Chinese restaurants are just some version of tofu veggies. That's not the case here, there is so much to choose from. Also a bonus is they have decently priced lunch specials. Loved this place

These are the original VH Teaneck owners and many of their patrons there followed them here. Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. Be sure to have dessert, too!

This restaurant uses real milk in their Vietnamese iced coffee. It is not fully vegan. Please list it as vegetarian.

That's so weird. It does say "with condensed milk" on the menu. Why is dairy necessary? 😭

I tried to find out ingredients for Cauliflower Soup at Veggie Heaven in Teaneck, because the soup is thick and therefore I wondered what is used to thicken it. I asked the cashier to find out the ingredients. She said that it was cauliflower and onions. I said: " That is all?" Then she said that also butter is used in the soup. It could be that the cashier does not really understand the importance of Vegan and Vegetarian to the customers, and that we also have to trust the Kosher status of the restaurant. I don't know, but I am going to persist in trying to find out the full list of ingredients in their food, at least in Teaneck. Now, I don't even trust that the Chicken is really Vegan. I am wondering if they use real chicken, ham, beef? They should be fully transparent for the ingredients, and publish the ingredients in their delicious food. Otherwise, we are supposed to trust them.

This is very strange. Veggie Heaven is 100% vegan so I don’t understand why they would use real milk. Did they confirm it was real?

very good - Edit
I was very impressed with all of the options offered. I tried the thai iced tea, drumsticks, spring rolls, general tso's chicken, and orange chicken. The drumsticks were very good and had a meaty texture. The general tso's chicken and orange chicken had good flavor. I also really enjoyed the thai iced tea. The prices were very good for the portion sizes (we got the lunch specials). I would love to go back and try more of the options.

A mock-meat miracle!! - Edit
Veggie Heaven is a small, local chain that started in 1995 up in Teaneck, NJ, and gained their cult following for specializing in Chinese "mock meat" dishes. And those "mock meats" are absolutely uncanny—your omnivore friends may not even realize they're eating vegan.
Read moreIt's wonderful that a place like this exists that allows plant-based folks to enjoy dishes we may have grown up with or miss, without sacrificing our values and help omnivores feel right at home while eating plant-based.
We ordered a ton of food but the standout dish for us was the Japanese drumsticks. I asked 3 times to ensure they were vegan because they were absolutely spot on to what I remember right down to the crispy skin. Look at the photo! I truly have no idea how they did it. My omnivore husband was equally impressed. If that creeps you out, you've been warned, but rest assured, it's all totally vegan.
We ordered:
- Scallion pancake (tasty but nothing unique)
- Japanese drumsticks (mindblowing)
- Szechuan dumplings (nice)
- Tonkatsu ramen with housemade noodles (one of my favorites—tastes like the nostalgic chicken soup you may have had as a kid but somehow they did it vegan)
- Crispy Soul Chicken (an uncanny replica of crispy, sweet general tso's)
We also finished off with a slice of the vegan cheesecake that was stunning! Creamy caramelized deliciousness. All made of tofu. You'd never know it (yes—omnivore husband confirmed it didn't taste like tofu)
The portions are large, and the prices are pretty low. They also bring the table pickled cabbage to snack on for free which is very kind.
Places like this give me hope that plant-based could someday become the default option because EVERYONE can enjoy this.
Like the song says, "OoOh [Veggie] heaven is a place on Earth!"
TLDR: Don't let their menu full of "beef", "chicken" and "shrimp" dishes fool you, IT'S ALL VEGAN!
Pros: Delicious VEGAN food and VEGAN desserts, Big portions! Low Prices!, Easy parking! Accessible! I love this place!
turtledovelet
Interesting - I got different drumsticks for the buffalo which were really not good/inedible (i think i know what brand they are as I've had them before). I wonder if the different stages are different drumsticks or it's inconsistent.
Read moreturtledovelet
By the way, those drumsticks and mock meats are products made in Taiwan and imported. Check out Lily's vegan pantry if you want to buy some frozen
