Needs improvement - Edit
The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items
Read moreThe veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice.
Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt.

Oh no! You were so close to Garden Fresh, just south on El Camino. That's the spot for amazing vegan Chinese food on the peninsula with awesome service and a friendly vegan owner!

Great Family Style Spot - Edit
Veggie Garden offers a huge menu of items that primarily mimic standard Chinese-American fare, but they seem to be branching into other cuisines like Korean and Thai.
Read moreWe ordered their "Very Garlicky Noodle," Sesame Chicken, and Happy Family (a medley of veggies and meats in their house sauce). Everything reminded me of when my parents used to run a restaurant and they'd bring home food like this for us. Only this time, everything is vegan friendly.
Their Sesame Chicken was fantastically prepared - light coating with a tangy sauce and a side of broccoli. We love it when dishes give you more veggies to compensate for the processed mock meats. I also enjoyed the garlic noodles and was excited that they used thick rice noodles, when most shops use egg noodles and butter - making them not vegan.
During the pandemic, they've become more no-frills mom and pop type of shop, and I am here for it. They served everything in takeout boxes and you eat on paper plates and plastic utensils to save on costs and contact. This method does make it easy at the end to take leftovers home.
I would love to come by again to try more of their dishes because what we had already was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend coming and supporting this local business if you're able.
Pros: Large portions and great value

Decent food. Served in throwaway containers for dine in. - Edit
The food is all vegan and has a decent taste. Service is good. The biggest con is they serve in throwaway containers for dine in. It feels cheap and tacky.

Great vegan restaurant - Edit
Often a little wary of Asian restaurants and vegetarian/vegan options but this one is all vegan. Good food, big portions, friendly staff. Only critics in was one dish (curry vegetables) was a little bland. If I had a chance to come back, I’d ask them to add more curry flavor or to make a little more spicy. Overall though, well worth a visit.

Very delicious food (too) many choices - Edit
I was at the beginning overwhelmed by the number of dishes on the menu. With a hungry friend, we ended up getting three entrees and one appetizer. Finished almost everything and all of them were very very delicious. My non-vegan friend said he will come often!

Good vegan food - Edit
Veggie Garden offers a good selection of Chinese and Korean style vegan dishes, as well as Japanese Tempura. The entree portions are ample. The food is tasty. My favorite dish is the General’s Chicken. The lunch special provides soup, tea and your choice of rice, noodles or a rice/noodle combo. You can choose either white or brown rice. The desserts are very good, my favorite is the Vegan Raspberry Chocolate cake. They also serve beer and warm sake. The room is pleasant, with good quality tables and chairs and if you enjoy listening to smooth jazz and contemporary R&B you will love it here. The people working here are friendly and efficient. The one problem is the parking lot is small and there are other businesses in the mini mall so sometimes it is difficult to find parking. One bonus of eating here is it is located next to two shopping malls and a Whole Foods is across the street, so you can plan to eat lunch here then do your shopping before heading home.

Veggie Garden is an absolute gem! Everything is such a great price and the food is amazing. We tried the thai iced tea, spring rolls, wontons with chili sauce, Kung Pao chicken, and General’s Chicken— all superb, but the wontons were our favorite. Definitely get the lunch special if you can! Highly recommend this place.

Solid Chinese Veg, GF friendly - Edit
We ordered takeout and had a great experience. The service was on top of it, the menu expansive, and the cooks were solid. I am gluten intolerant and they were accommodating and knowledgeable: all the faux meats are off limits and they have GF soy sauce. We ate hot and sour soup, orange tofu, eggplant, and Thai iced tea. All was magnificent except the orange tofu which had an underwhelming sauce, but I give them the benefit of the doubt since it was a substitution from orange “chicken”. Also it didn’t come with rice...I don’t know if that was an oversight but I wish they mentioned that when we ordered.

Don’t let the “fast food” description fool you. These are legitimate plates. Full of flavor and plenty of choices. The chef is accommodating; we asked for no oil on most plates and that was honored. Small place, but plenty of seatings.

Disappointed, Overpriced, Serves Honey - Edit
*** HONEY at this location (currently listed as Vegan). The exploitation of bees is not vegan. When we asked the staff if the honey was put in anything they advised it was for drinks. There was a language barrier so we are unsure if it is upon request for tea or if they put it in all the drinks as sweetener.

$9.95 Garlicky Noodle Dish: loved this
$12.95 Ribs: seemed like it was well prepared but we didn't enjoy the flavor.
$12.95 Sesame Chicken: awful, tasted like a sweet and sour dish. We love Sesame chicken so we were very disappointed.
*Dishes do not come with rice. Rice is $2, which is pretty high considering the price of the food.
$5.95 Pepper & Salt Tofu: Not very good flavor and way too oily. We actually love salt and pepper Tofu and this seemed like their own take on it. We really didn't like it.
$3.50 Thai Tea : Good but tasted just a bit off, couldn't place why.
$3.50 Thai Coffee: We enjoyed this
We came at lunch initially. There was a huge to go order which had to be wheeled out, a 10 top and several other seats were filled.
We were impressed with the speed of service.
Restrooms: Super clean! No baby changing station. One restroom for all.
Pros: Quick service, Super clean
Cons: HONEY WTF, Overpriced, Rice not included
