vegan food well located - Edit

Very good location. Easy to find.
I went there at midday and there were some places left.
I took a hot dog and the lunch of the day. They have some kind of milk shake but at this moment, they didn'have soymilk nor soy yogurt...
The hot dog was made with wholewheat bread which was very thick, we feel only the bread. Except that, the garniture was nice.
The lunch was simple but filling, oat soup, rice, carrot salad, beans and peas, a juice and a corn galette.
They also propose a lot of mix juices, hamburgers, and other classic of the international cuisine.
The restaurant supports animal rights activist events, that's a cool thing.
One can also buy food like fake meat, delicatessen, brownie, empanadas, soymilk en powder...

Pros: location, staff

Yummy local eats - Edit

On arrival at this tienda-restaurant, we noticed that the menu is only available on two days per week... The other days, you get two options for lunch. I ordered the cazuela, which was delicious: a hearty Colombian stew, with beans, vege chicharron, and other goodies, plus arepa, avocado and rice. The other option was a more common menu del dia, with rice, beans, salad and a soup. Unfortunately, Vegetus no longer makes vegan ice cream, booooo, although there are various baked goods available.

Pros: Yummy, All vegan

disappointing - Edit

the lunch meal on the day i went was bland and not very filling. the soup was the worst, extremely watery. the only thing i had that was good was a mango shake.
i guess if you're in this area of medellin, and you're hungry, this spot is okay, but vegarden is a much better option for tasty vegan food.

It has vegan ice cream!!! - Edit

I went here for lunch and most things on the menu are vegan. I had a tomale and salad, which was really good. This is the first place in South America I've found vegan ice cream, which was amazing, and worth going to just for that. They also sell beauty products here (not sure if they are vegan or vegetarian), but it's still worth knowing about. I recommend this place.

Pros: vegan ice cream, good prices, central location

Nice! - Edit

Very nice people working there, good service! Lots of good and healthy types of juice to choose from. I ate the lunch menu of the day, which was good. I don't care so much for soy products that are supposed to taste like meat sausage, but aside from that it was a nice meal. The dessert was way too sweet, but I guess that is something you have to expect on the American continent.
The ice cream is also very good, a good vegan option for people with the munchies.
The pople working there seemed very knowledgeable about food and animal rights.

Pros: Good food, Nice people, Good price

a Medallo TREASURE - simply a must-visit - Edit

This place is special in more ways than one. First of all, it's located in the heart of the historic downtown, right near Parque Bolivar. A slightly "rougher" area than others but also filled with atmosphere, character, and local flavor.

It also boasts a dynamic owner who, along with her brother, has created some incredible food products that you'll in fact find distributed in other shops around the city - especially their fantastic, fantaaaastic ice creams made from oats - and they feature some fantastic, filling dishes for reasonable prices. They also sell a decent variety of vegan meats and other essentials.

While the restaurant is indeed about 98% vegan, it is worth noting that some of the soy cheese (the 'lonchitos') do contain casein, and honey is used in some other products. With that in mind, it's easy to have a different vegan dish here every day of the week and walk out happy every time - and preferably with a different flavor of v ice-cream cone.

Part of the new vegetarian movement that is really making this city a veg destination in its own right. I'd recommend coming here as your first stop when you get to the city, it's that good! Friendly, down-to-earth, and 100% Paisa. Buenissima!

Pros: delicious, creative, central

Cons: a bit small, not open late

Awesome - Edit

AMAZING find in a city with not many vegetarian options. A complete juice bar, huge selection of vegan ice cream, and really great food. Very cheap as well! Friendly service, owner is very knowledgeable about what is vegan vs. vegetarian.

Pros: Yummy, Cheap, Great selection

Great Vegan Food - Edit

Vegan food is pretty rare in Colombia, but Vegetus has it! They have excellent tamales as well as wraps, veggie burgers, pasta, rice, salads, etc. Their menu is actually fairly extensive. They have a smorgasbord of juices (Colombia is, after all, well-known for juices from fruits not eaten much outside of the Andes region). They have excellent desserts as well, including many with soy ice cream. Very friendly staff. They also have an English language menu if needed. The only thing that could be better would be if they could be open for dinner (in addition to lunch).

Pros: delicious food, good portions, all vegan

Cons: not open for dinner

it's kindda new and they are extremely kind and opened to suggestions :) the place's small but over all's really nice, the only problem maybe's that is a little bit hot. :) they sell a lot of natural goodies and have a small but complete menu, also have a very weird menu of juice combinations that look odd but taste hell good :)

i've eaten wraps, pastas, something like chinese rice... :) and i haven't regreted it at all :) oh and it's cheap. i don't know if they get along with english tough :P haha.

Pros: food, service, price

Cons: heat, time, place
