Plant based forerunners - Edit
Great organization fighting for plant based eating. The name is a turnoff though, and animal rights do not seem like the number one priority rather than environmental or health concerns…

Cons: Disprioritization of animal rights

Hi Magnus. Thank you very much for your review of the Vegetarian Society of Denmark (DVF). I have two caps here (do you say that in English?😄) I am both a Happy Cow ambassador, and I am employed in DVF.
Read moreYou are right that our main focus is om health and the environment. Not that we don't care about the animals (we do! And we even get at international recognition. More about that in a minute). But organizations like Anima and Dyrenes Alliance have animal rights as their main priority, and they do that part very good, so therefore the enviorment and vegan nutrition and health are our "niche", our main focus and the topics we know the most about.
We do however promote the animal rights message too. We invited Peter Singer and Melanie Joy back in 2018, and we hosted nationwide talks with Mickey Gjerris about the ethical aspect back in 2019. But then Corona hit... But we will definitely do more events like that in the future (unfortunately, events about ethics don't attract as many people as talks with Esselstyn or Greger about health).
Lastly, I would like to highlight the Standout Charity, we got by Animal Charity Evaluators in 2022.

Going for it - Edit
For an association of its size, it really goes for it in representing its members.

Volunteer or join for dinner - Edit
DVF is a very active association, and there are often events you can volunteer in, or be part of - usually a summer party, a Christmas party, one for New Year, as well as monthly potlucks and our dinners at restaurants, planned by active members. This is a great way to meet others, interested in eating vegan.
